It looks like our first female Speaker of the House needs a dictionary. How else can we explain her misinterpretation of the term ethical? After the Democrats narrow victory last year, Speaker Nancy Pelosi promised the most ethical Congress in history. To fulfill this monumental task she proposed to appoint to the House Intelligence Committee Alcee Hastings. In 1979, President Carter appointed Hastings to Federal Judgeship. There was one problem, Hastings was caught with a $150,000 bribe. He was impeached and removed from the bench, by a Democrat House no less. One of the votes for his impeachment was cast by non other than Mrs. Pelosi. One might say Pelosi was giving Hastings a second chance but Hastings displayed no remorse, guilt, or shame for his actions. Usually second chances are reserved for those who have reformed. But thats just me.
Pelosis proposal for House Majority Leader? John Murtha. Forget his opinions and policies on Iraq. In 1980, the Federal Bureau of Investigation set up an operation against corrupt Congress members. Murtha was one of those caught. On the surveillance footage, Murtha stated that he wasnt interested in the bribe at this time. He further stated I'm just avoiding having a problem. I do business like this all the time. I guess taking bribes all the time is ethical.
As for the Speaker herself? Last time I checked, the islands of the American Samoa is sovereign U.S. territory. Then how come Samoa is exempt from the new minimum wage hike? The Starkist tuna company employs thousands of workers in Samoa. Starkist, a heavy Democrat donor, is headquartered in San Francisco, represented by Pelosi. A hike would hurt Starkist profits, so those Democrat fighters for the poor and the oppressed said the wage would hurt the Samoan economy and wrote this convenient exemption in. Sorry Charlie. No minimum wage for you! This begs another question, if the hike is bad for Samoa, then how can it not be bad for the average mom and pop businesses on the Continental U.S.?
By the way, they said that this issue is being fixed. If by fix you mean submitting another bill with the same hike and exemption under a different name.
Then again, perhaps she is not the only one that needs a dictionary. In fact, our first black President, Pres. Clinton, also needed a dictionary. This bandwagon of most ethical began with Pres. Clintons famous claim that his administration will be the most ethical in history. One sex scandal, several sales of missile technology to China despite the objection of Congress members and the Department of Defense, millions of dollars in questionable donations from drug dealers and Chinese government officials, hundreds of missing FBI files, and a stack of political motivated pardons (including the pardon of Hastings partner in crime) later, one thing has been made clear
the Democrat definition of ethical is not the same as the average Americans.
Peruse at your leisure.
The Ethics Committee decides what is ethical. It is a legal matter.
Just trying to put the lie to Piglousy's and the toon's claim.
Culture of corruption? The Marxists perfected it here.
(bows down)
I stole it from someone else, so we should both bow to that person (I think it came from Today's Toons...)
Naw, that was my response to the applause. :)
The Piglousy pict is good too. YOu were right, I saw it on Pookie's toons.
Well, thanks for bringing it to FR. :)
And thanks to whoever made the pict in the first place.
