It's a quote from one of his 1994 speaches as Mayor. Google "Freedomis about authority" Rudy Giuliani 1994
"Was it the Village Voice? Was it the NY Times? They both used to like to slime Rudy."
It's a quote that can not be taken out of context. It the meaning of a complete summary about what one thinks about freedom.
"government exists above all to keep people safe in their homes and in the streets"
No it does not. The only justification for govm't is to protect rights. This safety nonsense is simply obfuscation to avoid haveing folks notice their rights are being violated.
"Rudy:Over the last century, millions of people from all over the world have come to New York City. They didnt come here to be taken care of and to be dependent on city government. They came here for the freedom to take care of themselves."
That's a pretty misleading quote, since Rudy thinks govm't is there to not only keep people safe, but "to determine what you do, and how you do it." Dependant simply means the city's not going to pay for the trip, except for hte illegals.
It's a quote that can not be taken out of context. It the meaning of a complete summary about what one thinks about freedom.
No. You don't know if it's a complete summary of what Rudy thinks about "freedom". Rudy may have listed many things when describing what freedom is about. The quote may be out of context. That's why I want to see the full context.
No it does not. The only justification for govm't is to protect rights.
The number one unalienable right is life and safety. The number one unalienable right for government to protect is life and safety.
That's a pretty misleading quote, since Rudy thinks govm't is there to not only keep people safe, but "to determine what you do, and how you do it.
What? Your logic is circular. I give you a Rudy quote that shows a fuller context of what Rudy might think freedom means and you revert back to the first single quote with no surrounding context to say that the quote is misleading.
