PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Visitors to Palm Beach are being advised not to go in the water because of shark sightings.

Warnings posted said hundreds of bull sharks and lemon sharks have been seen swimming along the surf, the sand bar and farther out in the Atlantic Ocean.

Lifeguards say the shark invasion happens a few times a year, often in March.

The sharks pass by every spring while migrating to their summer homes up North.

Officials first spotted the sharks Wednesday morning and said there were less by the afternoon. They're hoping there will be even fewer today.

My daughter has the book SOUL SURFER about the young Christian teenage girl who lost her arm (all of it) to a shark in a wave break area that had no history of shark attacks.

The girl went back to competitive surfing after the attack.

We have had more people killed by lightning at the local beaches than sharks in the past 5 or 6 years.

I think the last notable shark attack was when a small boy was attacked and his uncle wnet into the surf and dragged the shark back on shore. Then a ranger shot the fish and they retrived the boy's arm which was subsequently re attached.

I will forever yield the sidewalk to that uncle!

a gentleman who flies a small plane up and down the beach all day long. He pulls one of those banners advertising a local eatery or juke joint. He wasn't going in the water either. He stated that every day he see rather large sharks swimming around unsuspecting bathers.

Have heard the same story second hand from pilots at Eglin. I won't go in water I can't see through. LOL

We love St. George Island and Apalachicola.

"Time for Ted Kennedy to rouse out of his Palm Beach mansion and go for a swim."

Oh that's GOOD! If only he would. Do sharks attack whales?

""Quint: When I was a little boy every little squirt wanted to be a harpooner or a sword fisherman. What you got here? A portable shower or a monkey cage?

Hooper: Anti-shark cage.

Quint: Anti-shark cage... You go inside the cage? Cage goes in the water? You go in the water? Shark's in the water? Our shark?

Farewell and adieu to you fair Spanish ladies. Farewell and adieu you ladies of Spain. For we've received orders for to sail back to Boston. And so nevermore shall we see you again.

Chief Martin Brody: Smile, you son of a bitch. You're gonna need a bigger boat."

"The sharks pass by every spring while migrating to their summer homes up North."

Getting ready to open up the house in Nantucket or the Vineyard. Pitchers and catchers report in a couple of weeks - spring can't be too far behind.

I guess changing the name to Shark Beach would be out of the question.

I hate to admit it but John Kerry and myself share an interest, WindSurfing!

He is not hooked in, that will wear you out much quicker. And that sure looks like a nice rig he has too.

Most likely the city council and local interests will be against it :-)
