Regardless. In the next few hundred years, humanity will burn every recoverable molecule of hydrocarbon on Earth. Whether it is burned by our grandchildren in SUVs or the great-great grandchildren of people living in Shanghai makes no difference on the geological timescale. Once it's gone, the CO2 content of the atmosphere will be irrevocably changed. Learn to live with this fact.
