California Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez has quit the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, accusing its chairman, fellow Democrat Joe Baca, of calling her a "whore.”
Sanchez was insulted when she found out that Baca had made the disparaging remark about her to California Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez and other lawmakers last year, Rep. Sanchez told The Politico.
Nunez "is a friend of mine,” an angry Sanchez said. "Did he think he wouldn’t tell me?”
Sanchez also cited concerns regarding the legality of Baca’s election to the chairman post in November, and about his attitude toward female legislators.
Earlier this month, four female lawmakers called on Baca to hold a new election for the chairmanship, saying the November vote did not use secret ballots, as required in the group’s bylaws. "I’m not going to be part of the [Caucus] as long as Mr. Baca illegally holds the chair,” Sanchez told the Politico.
"There’s a big rift here. You treat the women like s***. I have no use for him.”
Baca denied making the comment. He told The Politico that Sanchez "has decided to resign from the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, and has chosen to air baseless statements. Let me be clear – her comments are categorically untrue.”
But I wonder if Baca said she was a clean, well spoken whore
Imagine if an elected Republican used a word like that? The outcry from the hairy women's contingent would be deafening.

She did fund raisers at the Playboy Mansion, which seems to indicate a certain familiarity with ho'ings central shrine in California. I don't know that much about her background.
I assume she is not turning tricks in the capitol. But what do we know about her past. Prostitution is not illegal in Mexico or most of Latin America. So, she may have simply been confused about differing cultural norms in choosing her entry level jobs.
Anyone know the deep backgound on this?

I believe the correct quote here was that Baca referred to her as "a mainstream Latina-Americana whore who is articulate and bright and clean."
