Rudy Giuliani Throws Hat Into 2008 Presidential Ring
Post Chronicle ^ | 2/1/07

Posted on 02/01/2007 5:41:39 AM PST by areafiftyone

According to a source close to The Giuliani campaign, Rudy Giuliani is throwing his hat into the ring.  The Hinzsight Report confirms, through a source close to the Giuliani campaign, that he is presently sending people out into all 50 states to secure his name on the primary ballots.

"Despite Mayor Giuliani's public cautiousness, this is evidence that he is seriously pursuing the Presidency in 2008, and he should be taken very seriously.

Critical state polls have shown Mayor Giuliani leading the pack, and it's about time that he start being considered what he is--the front-runner" a source tells The Hinzsight Report.

Giuliani has lined up nearly 300 key Republican supporters in New Jersey for his bid for the 2008 presidential nomination, his campaign announced this week.

In a recent Quinnipiac University poll of New Jersey voters, it showed Giuliani leading all Republican presidential candidates and ahead of Sen. Hillary Clinton, the leading Democratic contender, in a head-to-head matchup.

The New Jersey primary, which is currently set for Feb. 26, is likely to move up to Feb. 5, placing it early in the campaign season and increasing its significance.  As many as 15 states could hold their Republican presidential primaries Feb. 5, reports Gannett.

There's always a chance for Duncan Hunter or other conservative to make a breakthrough in New Hampshire, where money isn't as important as making personal appearances and meeting the voters. After that, though, a candidate needs the dollars for a nationwide campaign.

The Hoover Institute, at which Ronald Reagan is an Honorary Fellow, thinks that Rudy would make a good president and is good for the GOP.

http://www.hoover.org/publications/digest/3491481.html

Pat Robertson, ubber social conservative, thinks that Rudy would make a good president and said so on national television.

National Review wrote an online piece two days ago after listening to Rudy on immigration and the only Republican prsidential contender who can beat him on that issue is Tancredo (who stands zero chance of being elected, imo).

I'd post the link to Rudy's excellent stance on immigration but have a new computer and haven't uploaded my saved files yet.

Duncan's going to need to step up the charisma factor a bit.
If he hasn't done that in 27 years in the House, how do you expect him to do that in 12 months?

It is if he wins and the evangelicals and social conservative go third party or stay home. Which many will.

If he wins the primary, the evangelicals and social conservatives would be wise to support the top vote getter. The primary is the time to sort out the candidate selection, and everyone needs to get behind that candidate. If these voters don't do that, than screw 'em and I hope they go form their own third party to go on to lose elections for years to come. I am not sure why some voters think THEY get to dictate that candidates MUST support 100% of their views. How arrogant. There are things I like and dislike about every single candidate I have ever supported. It's politics, and politics is about finding compromise and consensus to get things done amongst many differing viewpoints.

Not everybody is looking for perfection; most people are mature enough to realize that they're not ever going to find a candidate that they agree with 100 percent of the time.

It's just a small vocal group of bombthrowers who show up on EVERY candidate thread, demanding that nobody vote for this candidate or that candidate "or we'll leave the GOP."

I don't have a candidte yet, but I'll tell you this: anybody who doesn't vote for WHOEVER comes out of the primaries as the GOP nominee is NOT a conservative, nor do they care one damn bit about this country.

People can go on and on about who they won't vote for, so so will I: I will NEVER EVER cast a vote that gives ANY kind of support for any Democrat anywhere.

"If it comes down to Rudy vs. Hillary, how many of us will sit at home and let Hillary take it by default?"

This argument has been made thousands of times now. Let's see how long Rudy actually stays in the race, and if he can convince a majority of Republicans that he is conservative enough on a few key issues from the GOP platform.

Unless he can forge a coalition, he will split the party. That split cannot be blamed on those who refuse to accept him, he must make himself acceptable to them. This is what the Giuliani people cannot see. He is an ordinary man who must win voters, not some super-savior who requires our votes.

At the moment, he is our best hope to deny Obama or Hillary the White House. Let's put it this way - out of the following, which do you think can best handle the power to blow up the world - Rudy, McCain, Romney, Hillary, or Obama?

Rudy stands out from the rest.

Oh, gotcha.

The new computer is okay. Vista issues are minimal but I've noted when calling for technical support that techies are still calling for Vista users to click on something that isn't there anymore or is re-named. LOL. So everything takes a little longer right now.

Also, I don't particularly like the new keyboard and am making a lot of mistakes :-)

'if he wins the primary, the evangelicals and social conservatives will stay home on election day'.

Oh, the Blackmail Wing of the GOP raises it ugly head again.

I think he meant 'if he wins the primary, the evangelicals and social conservatives will stay home on election day'.

...because doing that on Election Day 2006 worked out so well?

Rudy's biggest mistake at the moment is believing his own polls.
