It was bad enough when cartoons caused rioting in Muslim countries. As a native Bostonian, I am embarrassed at the level of hysteria caused by cartoons in my home city.
In an effort to promote a late night Cartoon Network show called Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Turner Broadcasting hired some guerilla marketers to attach magnetic boxes with the lighted image of one of the characters on several locations around the city of Boston.
Now I dont know much about making terror bombs, but city officials were notified and later considered the boxes dangerous. Have any of us ever heard of a bomb with the lighted image of a mooninite on it? Was there any reason that cable news stations spent the whole afternoon on a non-story?
Is Boston that stupid?

God, that was funny. Watching the MSM freak out and yelling, "It's Ignot!" at the TV all day was a hoot.

In all seriousness, I would say that any city in Central Florida (Orlando, Kissimmee, St. Cloud, Lakeland, etc.) would easily qualify as the dumbest in America, from my own experience.

Of course! I have the whole series on DVD.
I think that I should post my "back story" to ATHF sometime.

They've been sending The Swimmer back to the Senate for 40 years, even after he killed a young woman in their state. That, right there, makes the answer to the question glaringly obvious.

Didn't you see FULL METAL JACKET? Remember the plush bunny?
It's game theory, if you treat it as a threat, with 99% probability you look stupid. If you treat it as a joke, with 1% probability, you're dead.
The choice is yours.

With a recent history of Wilson Goode, Ed Rendel and John Street as Mayors of Philadelphia, I would think Philly may give Boston a run for that title!

"later considered the boxes dangerous."
They were not boxes at all- open circuit cards with all components visible.
With light-up LEDs!

Do you think he called the shot? I wouldn't suppose so, but I couldn't say. I think I saw the governor on TV, didn't I?
But that's not the point. The point is that once these things are brought to the attention of any law enforcement or emergency organization, the response is set by doctrine, and if you would sit down for ten minutes with a pen and paper, you would write the same doctrine.

Is Boston that stupid? If a Bostonian has to ask this question, there is certainly no point in answering.
To: bocopar
Well, those 9/11 hijackers carefully chose Boston as their embarking city, as things are not taken all too strictly up there.
Any connection with the desire of not wanting to be a starting point all over again, or is it just a sudden high that drives things in Boston?
