So how far back does the Free Republic archive articles and how can I go back and find some of the first threads that started the whole thing off ?

It struck me I've hung out for a while and it was well established when I joined.

Be fun to see what we were focused on day one. For me anyway.

Funny, that's *exactly* how I found FR. I've never been a very active poster, but I have lurked & read with varying levels of intensity for nine years now. Wow, has it really been that long?

Am I the only one who became *really* disillusioned with our political process after the Senate failed to convict Clinton? I used to be fairly politically active (head of UNC YRs, etc.), but kind of lost faith after that...

I miss style properties. They were fun, and allowed a level of precision that isn't possible without them. I particularly enjoyed using tables and style tags to relabel graphics. The most ambitious, I think, was a picture on which all sorts of suitcases and other bags were labeled "GUN"; I used HTML to relabel all of them "STEAL ME".

I came in January, 1998, when Drudge linked Free Republic during the Lewinsky scandal.

We're twins .... that's my entry date also, and for the very same reason: Drudge, Whitewater.

It only took me a freakin' half an hour, but I found him. rdb3. He's been back for quite some time, but I haven't run across him.

I come to FR every day (multiple times a day); but, man, I don't post like I used to...

You know, I think a lot of the "newer" posters don't "get" that part. That's why they're so damn angry all the time.

I remember the heady days of the 2000 recount (when I was just a little lurker). And those who contributed reliable information (not rumors, which were rampant) during the days after 9-11.

For me some of the ugliest threads were the Terri Schiavo ones; I think that really hurt FR.

Still hard to believe it's been more than 10 years now. Those old pages on the Internet Archive are fun to look at : )

I was wondering what happened to RDB3, He was in an accident some time back and was seriouly incapacitated but he was still posting.
