I have lived in New York City for 37 years now. I saw do-nothing NYC mayors John Lindsay, Abe Beame, Ed Koch, and (worst of all) David Dinkins. New York City was the cliché "Fort Apache: The Bronx", that inescapable feeling like being lost in enemy territory.

Then came Rudy and things changed very quickly. There was an immediate police presence in the city. It felt safer to live here right away. Rudy was a commander in this city. He was an anti-polititian. He was straight-forward and honest. Most of all, he was the hardest working mayor I have ever seen. He changed New York City in many ways for the better, and those changes are still having an impact. It takes a very tough leader to effect change in New York City.

Then came 9/11. We New Yorkers knew we were in good hands with Rudy. The rest of the country learned what we already knew. Rudy is a great leader. And Rudy would do great and everlasting things for the United States if given the chance to be President.

Awesome post and I think you nailed it with that 'anti-politician' statement, thats just what he is like! No politician would EVER turn down 10 million dollars for ANY reason!
