Captured documents confirm Iran backing for all sides against U.S. in Iraq

WASHINGTON — The U.S. military has been analyzing Iranian intelligence memorandums and other reports that represent the strongest confirmation of long-standing assessments that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is aiding both Sunni and Shi'ite insurgents in an effort to undermine Iraq and expel the U.S.-led coalition.

"The documents have been determined as authentic and provide the most detailed evidence of Iran's strategy in Iraq," an official said.

"In short, Iran has been helping everybody, with the possible exception of Saddam's people, against us."

Surprise! Surprise! I (and lots of folks) have known and said this since 2004. Now do we react on this in an appropiate way?

They do share a common border with Iraq and I'm sure that the thought of Uncle Sam on their border doesn't thrill them. Why is this a surprise?

Well, we did invade France to get to Germany.... lets hope the Democrats don't derail this operation before we achieve our final objective.

It's just a matter of time now till the endgame plays out, my guess is that Israel will strike at the nuke plants and Iran will sent troops over the border.

We 'may' see an effort on the part of more moderate Iranian officials who are upset with mahmoud and who know the consequences and see the writing on the wall- let's hope something gets worked out quick

It's not, which is why I said I doubt anyone would be. I would like to see the translations out of curiosity, just to see what they're up to specifically.

""The documents have been determined as authentic and provide the most detailed evidence of Iran's strategy in Iraq," an official said."

Isn't it time the CIA sent Joe Wilson to Iran to determine the legitimacy of these documents? He could sip green tea near the hotel pool in Tehran while gathering information from his friends there.

Iran sends (regular/real) troops across the border? Never.
Not as long as we are there. They may send more dirty little rat-terroists, but they will never try to invade Iraq with troops. Of course when the Democrats get their way Iran will get Iraq and Israel on a silver plate.

Now do we react on this in an appropiate way?

Reacting in the appropriate way would have meant that as soon as we took Baghdad we marched on Tehran and Damascus. That would have taken the wind pretty much totally out of the terrorists' sails. The Democrats will never allow that now, which means that our efforts in the Middle East, while worthwhile, won't have nearly the impact that they should have.
