Any white male who took that class in the first place either wasn't paying attention or was forced into it. The statement on the professor's web page made it perfectly clear that she was a man-hating, American-hating marxist feminist. Even if the rape case hadn't arisen, taking the course would have been an unpleasant experience for a normal human being, and would have taught him nothing worth learning. So it's not surprising that a male white athlete had a D in the course even before the blowup.

That doesn't excuse Duke from hiring such people and offering such worthless and destructive courses, but young people who go to college nowadays really need to learn how to pick and choose their courses. There are a lot of minefields out there, and the wisest course is to learn how to avoid them.

Conservative professors are pretty much non-existent in "humanities" courses. Most colleges require a certain number of credit hours for humanities-related undergraduate work. The players probably looked at the course book and selected the classes that looked easy. I was in the same boat 15 years ago. All of my "humanities" courses are instructed by uber-Liberal professors.

but young people who go to college nowadays really need to learn how to pick and choose their courses.

That's like choosing between the lesser of two evils. None of the players could have predicted their infamous notoriety. They are guilty of being players on a lacrosse team that was subjected to an ill-conceived prosecution. They are not guilty of poor course selection.

The problem is that they are all liberal! If you go to an institution like Duke a student cannot take any values other than liberal ones with them. If one makes the mistake of not conforming then the grades will suffer. Most of these so-called professors (well educated but without common sense) want to use papers because the grading is subjective and not easily challenged. That is why one always hears about the "BAD" practice of using objective tests. Thus the bias against SAT etc. The introduction of the writing sample was not to improve the test but allow graders to skew the result based on content and area from where the student was tested. Thus insuring better results for "minorities". If one looks at the correlation between scores on writing sample versus the objective portion of the test the clear skew can be validated.

Unfortunately, in many cases students have no choice but take some courses such as these, as they are requirements for any degree and all of the faculty members are stark raving leftist moonbats. In those cases, the student has a choice to make - keep his/her mouth shut, regurgitate the left wing propaganda and get out with the easy A, or challenge the professor and resign himself/herself to a lower grade, or even a failing grade.

Maybe he took the class because some girl was taking it. I've done that. Homework can be fun.

This is a copy of an email that I sent to this "professor" at kcurtis@acpub.duke.edu

Schadenfreude. I never really appreciated the nuances of this word until I beheld the burgeoning fallout from this incident. I LOVE to see liberals like you hoisted on the petard of Political Correctness, racial identity politics, gender determinint feminism and what I have coined as "Tawana Brawley Syndrome".

TBS exists when one takes a historical reality such as the marginalization of innocent blacks within a once overtly racist crminal justice syndrome or the past subjagation of women or any number of other offenses and attempts to apply that to a contemporary situation wherein the objective facts don't apply; ala OJ Simpson, Rodney King, Anita Hill etc.

Aside from the fact that petty tyrants like you have turned US college campuses into little ivy covered North Koreas, I suspect that you were seeking to appropriate PC bonus points and obtain instant moral authority by championing the cause of the "other" (marginalized black exotic dancer) against racist male chauvinist members of the privliged white elite. A case of cultural Marxist Class warfare that boomeranged. GOD how I love it so!!!!!

Even though I despise the racial identity politics that mindlessly multicultural cultural Marxists like you have fostered amongst my people to our ultimate detriment, I would like to state that I am a black man living in the heart of Chicago's South Side ghetto, who values the rule of law and truth as best as it can be objectively and humanly determined.

It would be fitting if he gets a pretty penny from you.
