When they ever do get into a debate, they rarely respond directly to any points raised by their critics, but either try to dismiss their critics with pejoratives ("hateful, ranting hooligans") or just repeat their demagogic talking points.

You mean like this:

On the other hand, most of my e-mail comes from right-wing "blog hooligans." These hateful, ranting and sometimes even threatening folks don't care about Duke or the lacrosse players. Their aim is to make academics and liberals look ridiculous and uncaring. They deliberately misrepresent the faculty and manipulate the feelings of those who care about the lacrosse players in order to foster their own demagogic political agenda. They contribute to the problem, not to the solution.

A friend once asked me (as an English teacher) to proof read her daughter's college research paper for a Women's Studies class. I dreaded the thought of reading such bilge, but I agreed because her mother was my friend.

The paper was filled w/errors of FACT (which I revealed to her), but the biggest fault...and I told her so...was that she herself had only written 2-3 sentences in the whole of the paper; all the remainder of the paper was filled w/quoted material. I suggested that her paper needed more of her own development of the premise, fewer direct quotes, but annotation of the quotes and ideas.

She returned to my house a few days later w/only a few more sentences added, but the bulk of the paper remained the same. I gave up getting through to her.

Her mother later excitedly told me that her daughter had made an A on the paper! (I would have graded it an F.)..............Her mother also exclaimed that this daughter had graduated w/honors.

My conclusion: English departments are overloaded w/kooks and impoverished academics who attrack students like themselves.

"Their aim is to make academics and liberals look ridiculous and uncaring."

You beat us to that when you signed that ad - Liberal!

Whine on, and show the world how a Marxist faculty member will try to rationalize anything.

Show us the true breadth and depth of your academentia.

The Left tries to clothe itself in the garb of Science and Truth in order to fool the gullible, but the dirty little secret of the Left is that it is about power, not truth. Their playbook is simple: get power, any way they can.

Slandering, imprisoning and killing those who dare raise their voices against them has been SOP for the Left since at least the days of Robespierre and the "Committee of Public Safety."

Frankly, there is absolutely nothing that I would put past the academic Left in this country should they ever achieve unfettered power, as I believe history has amply demonstrated.

"She too is a University student, but I dont hear him condemning her or her University."

This fixed a few slight typos I'm sure you overlooked:
"She is a slut paying tuition to a University, but I don't hear him condemning her or her University."

There is a social disaster just not the one she thinks there is.

I read this drivel earlier this morning and nearly pinged you, but decided that it wasn't worth reading. Although I can see that making fun of this piece of garbage has been entertaining. lol

I've come to the conclusion that a library card and free use of the library would give a young person a better and less expensive education than taking some of the college course now offered by these liberal academics.

Her canard is based on "job equivalence" as you point out.

I recently saw a study where 26 yo never married women engineers make MORE than their equivalent male counterparts. Why? Legislatively induced artificial law of supply and demand.

Speaking about the scarcity of registered Republicans in academia, Davidson joked that universities should strive to recruit Republicans to the humanities earlier in life by offering "programs for affluent, gated communities, so baby Republicans can learn the joy of the classics."

I think you make a good point. Nifong had reason for his actions even if they were criminal.

The only reason for the 88 was to push a bigotted left wing agenda which Davidson transparently continues to push in this opinion article with commennts on health care and child care. But what can we expect from a shallow transparent individual.

Oh, do I agree with that, Carolinamom. I tell the kids I mentor that if they can read, they can do and be anything they choose in life.

Academics and liberals look ridiculous and uncaring without any help from bloggers. All the bloggers do is let others know the nonsense that the liberal kooks spew.

What would be the effect on the 18 percent below the poverty line if the 20 to 30 million illegal aliens were kicked out? That would open up jobs and raise wages.

The stealing of our country by illegals is a social disaster in and of itself, and it contributing to the other "social disasters" this author is whining about.
