Speaking of naval vessels--is there a Navy ship named after Jerry Ford? I know the peanut farmer got a nuke named after him (barf), but how about Jerry?

We don't need a carrier, just a single Ohio class sub and see my tag line.

George Bush will do nothing but threaten, the same he did with the DPRK. Can't deter with an incredible threat!

We talked about this on the thread about USS JFK being mothballed. My point was then (and it remains) that naming our pre-eminent weapons platform, the symbol of our overwhelming power, should be reserved for giants like Reagan. The Dems worship JFK and FDR, so I give them that. But lately, the policy seems to be that each new carrier is just named after a recent president. Carter was offered a carrier, but he turned congress down because he is a nutball pacifist. He took the seawolf sub (which can only be used for offensive warfare) because he once served on a sub. The thought of a carrier being named for Clinton some day disgusts me. Instead, we should name our carriers for famous battles like Coral Sea, Midway and Lexington. We should also have a USS Declartion of Independace. And so forth.

I liked the good old days when cruisers were named after state capitals; battleships after states; destroyers after war heroes and carriers after battlegrounds.
I, for one, would not like to be a young sailor serving on the Willy Clinton.

He took the seawolf sub (which can only be used for offensive warfare) because he once served on a sub. To be fair, Jimmuh worked for Hyman Rickover and was directly involved with the development of nuclear subs. The honor is fitting, even if he's an unworthy POS.
