Hmmm. I hate the Saudis. But it is their country, no? If they have a rule against bringing something in, what is the grounds for smuggling it in anyway? The US doesn't allow Cuban cigars I don't think. What would the argument be for someone smuggling them in?

Are you 100% sure about that? Jews cannot own land there, but they will let them in if it serves their purposes. I have a close freind that works for a Jew who is a bigshot in his field of expertise. The Jew has been to Saudi Arabia more than once. The Saudis stone age culture was closed for so long, they had to let in whomever they could after oil got big to bring them up to speed with the advances of the rest of the world.

This is the Wikepedia entry on that particular story:

"A Saudi government website initially stated that Jews would not be granted tourist visas to enter the country [5][6] It has since removed this statement, and apologized for posting "erroneous information""

Which references these links:

http://www.house.gov/apps/list/press/ny09_weiner/022604Saudi.html
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/3493448.stm

It should be noted that this was in relation to the issuing of tourist visas (which had not been issued to any non-Muslims prior to 2004). Visas had previously been issued for business purposes.

Thank you for the info. Don't think my vacation plans will change.
