It looks like they hired the Gambino Family to do the execution.

Really. I don't see it as a good sign that the executioners were taunting Sadaam, and the government officials got into an argument with him - or that someone was praising Al Sadr.
Sadaam deserved it and the Shia got their revenge, but you can see the Shia/ Sunni hatred that isn't going away. Interesting that the Moslems hate each other most of all.

Yes. ..and needing the same protection; if not more. (Not to mention the anonymity required for this 'killing'; on behalf of the 'State' rather than an individual act)
But by all accounts, BRAVE of these men to do this; and a real courage called on, for all involved in Saddam reaping his own and final Justice, as we can only know it.

I just took another look at the picture and it does look like one of the mob family's did the job..The two that carried this out should be given a medal and a free home with servants and 24hour guards around the house..Very much hero's on my book..

I've never seen a hanging, except in the Westerns, and don't intend to see this one. Looking at the rope on the Drudge photo made me chuckle because I was surprised at the size of the rope. It's huge! Guess the hangmen went to the School of Get a Bigger Rope. Or maybe the bigger the crime, the bigger the rope.
