There won't be any other choices, the party hierarchy has decided they will ram a rino down our throats. I can't stop that, but I won't play the game.
I didn't say any freepers liked Obama. but he's making a strong play to evangelicals, and he is doing that because he thinks he can move some of them. he likely can, yet his public policy positions are totally at odds with theirs. yet, he will get some of those votes - what does that tell you?
Rudy isn't that stupid. Neither is mclame.
Michael Barrone and now Frank Luntz....
A couple of the sharpest Repub number crunchers now thinking Rudy will win.
Kerik was another "hit job" by the left, same with what they did to Jeanine Pirro (remember, she was supposed to be running against Hillary).
the left knows how to use the justice system to take down republicans; in the meantime, Sandy Berger is walking around a free man.
Did you read that in the New York Times or what that on Oprah?
Democrats do that all the time and it doesn't work. Good ole Clinton was a Southern Baptist going to Church services and trying to fit in. Clinton never won over the hearts of social conservative voters.
no, I read it right here on FR:

do you think Obama is stupid, that he's wasting his time, making this outreach for nothing? no way, he can get some of these votes. as insane as it sounds, since his positions are totally at odds with that voting block - but as I said, they are a fickle group.
That's why the best thing that could happen for Rudy is for Justice Stevens to die or retire in the next year.
If Bush appoints a 5th conservative this summer, I think Rudy's chances go way up.
With 5 conservatives on the SC, Roe is history(or, if it is still upheld with Alito, Roberts and Bush's 3rd pick, then we may as well accept that it will never be reversed), abortion ceases to really matter on the Presidential level.
I think if Bush gets a 3rd SC nom, Rudy moves to the driver's seat.
that is a good observation.
Rick Warren is a pro-gay pro-choice minister. Obama is not winning any hearts in conservative circles. Social Conservatives aren't dumb. They are not going to vote for someone who supports partial birth abortions.
I suppose that depends on how you define "Evangelicals". We define them as the "Religious Right". They are NOT going to vote for Obama.
Very true ... and more's the pity for Rudy is, to my knowledge, the only US leader to have stood up to Yurafart, having expelled him from Lincoln Center in 1995. For me, that speaks volumes.
I also don't understand this notion that Rudy is less likely to name good judges than say McCain or ROmney or Gingrich or whoever.
The President doesn't pick judges personally. He has an OLC and DOJ staff that do it for him. For most judges, Senators and Representatives pick people from their district or state who have some connection to them.
Bush didn't pick Roberts or Alito becuase he's some legal genius. His staff probably put together a dossier of the top 5 , Bush interviewed them and went with his gut. That same gut that gave us Miers.
No matter who wins, the dossier for the next GOP President will have the same 5 names on it.
In any event, out of all the candidates, Rudy is actually the best qualified to pick judges. He's been a prosecutor, he's been at DOJ, he has personal experience.
He knew Alito and Scalia from his DOJ/WH days. And quite frankly even if he sticks with his Italian/Catholic NJ/NY roots, that's worked ok so far.
And most importantly he will have a litmus test on being tough on crime and tough on terror. ANd if you go through the cases and make a list of Judges who uphold the death penalty, who support law enforcement, who oppose habeas abuse, who don't coddle terrorists and give them new rights, you'll find that they're the same judges who would overturn Roe.
I agree - I don't see a president Rudy picking Ruth Bader Ginsburg types for the SCOTUS.
and his attacks against the display of objectionable artwork at the brooklyn museum. he also took on the ACLU on a range of cases while mayor.
Kerry got 21% of that vote in 2004. Gore got 30% of them in 2000.
I desire a conservative, but something I will say in Giuliani's favor, he has the stuff, of all the front runners of both parties at present, only Giulianni seems to actually belong there.
The only other man that seems to be natural presidential material, is a man I support, but that couldn't win, Newt Gingrich.
