Cop Shooter Slain (Illegal Alien)
Long Beach Press-Telegram ^ | 12/28/2006 | Mira Jang

LONG BEACH - After exchanging several rounds of gunshots, Santa Ana police officers on Wednesday shot and killed the man they suspected of shooting and critically wounding two Long Beach police officers.

Police officials say they believe the man is Oscar Gabriel Gallegos, 33, but his identity cannot be officially confirmed until after a coroner's inspection this morning.

"We do believe it's him based on the information we have, but it's not 100 percent," said Victor Standke, a spokesman for the Santa Ana Police Department.

The fatal shooting occurred when three SAPD officers followed the man believed to be Gallegos into a strip mall at 216 E. Warner Ave. LBPD officers, who were conducting surveillance of the suspect.

be sure to post all the times crimes are committed by citizens, too.

Crimes committed by foreigners are of greater importance than crime committed by regular U.S. citizens.

But how does a coroner determine if person is a citizen of a certain country?

They "live scan" the dude's fingerprints. (Sort of odd terminology, eh?)

About the only way I can think of is if he was already incarcerated..

Bingo. Homie had a rap sheet about a mile long. He was not unknown lo law enforcment before taking his dirt nap...

In general - I think generalizations suck regardless of the realities of what our experience tells us. The original poster (to which I responded) asserted that a HUGE number of illegals are demented and violent. I asked for some sort of documentation and your links do not prove his assertion. What I think needs to be defined is what is meant by 'huge'? Frankly - the whole thread smacks of bigotry. I've known many Mexicans over the years. I was a member of an inner-city church in Houston and we had hundreds of Mexicans in our congregation (we ran attendance of around 500) and I can honestly say that in my experience they were normal people. During my college years I worked side-by-side on construction crews and in factories with Mexicans and again - normal people. Were they violent? No more so than the anglos I worked with in a construction world. In fact - on the framing crews I worked on the anglos were the drunk, lazy, unreliable ones. I could count on the Mexicans to be there day-in and day-out - even in bad weather.

Is there a serious problem with our immigration system? Heck yes there is - and for many reasons (as we've seen in the black community) the problems have produced more than their fair share of violent offenders - and that's directly related to MANY factors but it is most certainly NOT an indication that Mexicans are disproportionately demented and violent.

Oh boy. Another poster who believes we don't have enough of our own criminals and that we should allow the criminals of other nations free access to the citizens of the United States.

Logic? What's that?

Yep. That's why we're all so happy that the freak who shot a BLACK COP has gotten his just rewards.

That is good to know.I have a feeling with California becoming so anti-gun,it wont be long before they are called Bobbies!I sure hope not for the people they are sworn to protect.Every time I see the shootout on TV where the bank robbers were more well armed than the police, and the police having to commandeer a pawn shop for some weapons to protect themselves, should wake PC politicians up.I do think some changes were made though, but look at what it took.

OC's rather conservative...that's one of the MAIN reasons we've been able to handle being here for so long.

It is, however, changing...rapidly.

Ok - saying the 'whole' thread smacks of bigotry was off the mark.

I have lived in many states and am presently residing in Texas.Have been here 11 years now and love it.It is so big,you can drive to climes that are conducive to any other state.I have to make many road trips to VA hospitals, and I enjoy the fact that I can have a weapon in my vehicle in case of any problems. It is no big deal. The thought of having to leave it behind to travel to another state, does nothing to entice me to travel to them.Being in strange places and making stops in some of them, can make you feel extremely vulnerable.Which you are.Once you get used to feeling secure,it is hard to change back because the bad guys are waiting and can spot a traveler a mile away. That is their'job'!

I was talking about illegal aliens (and many legal immigrants), not about persons of Mexican descent who have been legally in this country for generations. Comments here have nothing to do with bigotry - some of us are just fed up that select groups are allowed not only to break the laws but also receive special perks for breaking laws.

I sure would call MS13 members demented. Same for those Castro dumped on us and the blond and blue-eyed Russian Mafia and the members of other Hispanic and Oriental gangs, generally made up of illegal aliens albeit there are legal immigrants among them also. In our area it has been estimated that the number of gang members run into the thousands and they are busy recruiting in the high schools.

I have no love for criminals, and all illegal aliens are criminals who are willing to break laws if it's to their benefit. The solution is easy - start deporting them, remove the perks, and punish those who rent to them or hire them.

We're talking about southern California, where the majority of violent, "most wanted" criminals happen to be of hispanic origin. We read the news every day about violent hispanic gangs who are shooting their guns at people, including children, and are wreaking havoc on the communities.
