SNL was the best post-debate analysis vehicle in 2000. Gore kept re-inventing himself after each devastating skit, whereas GWB and his team just rolled with it and incorporated some of it in their own "strategery".
Carter took a few hits too, such as the "preparation I" to fight inflation and Hemorrhoids.
No President will ever be successful if he or she is overly sensitive to criticism. This is one reason (out of thousands) why John Kerry could never be President. Nothing in comedy is funnier that sticking it to a stuffed shirt, and Kerry is the epitome of a stuffed shirt.

Can't remember the guy's name on SNL, but he did absolutely devastating Bill Clinton parodies! IIRC the guy turned out to be somewhat more conservative all around than most folks on SNL ever were. His parodies were usually on the mark, as opposed to Will Ferrell's parodies of Bush 43, which are just stupid and silly.
