Al Franken visits troops in Baghdad - tells them they are losing the war (USO tour entertainer)

Al Franken couldn't resist spouting anti-war rhetoric during a scheduled USO tour at Camp Victory, Iraq.

Tonight Al Franken ate chow in the Camp Victory DFAC (dining facility) and sat down with the troops. One of my coworkers (an Army Major) sat with him and listened to the conversation between Al and his handlers(?) as they ticked off negative aspects of us being here.

Finally, Major Patience (not his real name, but he sure displayed some) asked these obviously educated folks to name one positive thing we've done that they had heard of. They couldn't name one item.

They then confronted him by asking how he could feel good about being here when we were sent based on lies, the goals were always changing, none of the Iraqis want us here, our friends are being maimed and dying, we are commiting crimes and atrocities, bla bla bla. And then they asked him how he felt about us losing the war like we are.

For those that miss them, SandRat posts many positive stories each day from the military news sources. These are the stories about schools being opened, hospitals built, power or services being restored or improved, successful Iraqi Army operations and events--the items you never see reported by AP, Reuters, ABC, CBS, CNN et al. SandRat finds these stories regularly, so why can't even a poor investigative reporter. Al Franken works for AirAmerica, a huge radio network that regularly covers serious news stories in an unbiased manner (major sarcasm) so he should know of these happenings. But he remains ignorant.

Sorry for the vanity, and I am also sorry if it ended up a rant. I have been angry for over 2 hours regarding this and just wanted to get it off my chest.

I'll need confirmation before I believe this. Even for Franken this is a stretch.

I've given Francken the benefit of the doubt because I know he does USO tours. Maybe I still should, but for God's sake, what's the point of going if you're going to depress morale?

Francken can't understand that no matter how bad things get for the Iraqis right now, there is plenty to feel good about when every mission completed and enemy killed has a positive impact.

If he hits an American soldier stationed in Iraq, it probably helps his US Senate electoral chances in deep blue Minnesota.

If this is true then Francken should be wrapped and bound and sent home; better, sent somewhere, where people actually live the lies this Left holds to.

What does traitorous mean; if it is not someone whose words/actions undermine the troops they are pretending to support.

I would rather have a visit from Frankenstein if I were one of those troops.

And then they asked [Major Patience] how he felt about us losing the war like we are.

Are the "they" in your sentence refering to Al or his handlers? There is a difference.
Al should not be telling troops they are losing the war and he shouldn't allow those associated with his tour to say demoralizing comments. We also should not attribute something to Al that he did not say himself. Al can be easily defeated in the arena of ideas without false attributions. The Left needs to lie and distort Limbaugh.

If this is true they need to do the duct tape trick on him, starting with his mouth of course.

I can answer this one: You won't find what you're not looking for nor even interested in.

Good Lord.....Used to be I'd have been shocked and outraged. Now I just shake my head and wonder how anyone could be so void of reality.

If this is true it will be a testament to our troops tolerance if he's not fragged.

That said you can't walk down a street without it being video / audio taped anymore, does someone have any video of this?

Thanks to you and everyone else over there, please tell them we care and believe in them!

Was Major 'Patience' part of the escort party and were any regular troops within earshot of the conversation?

I don't want to be critical of your account but I'm having trouble understanding who said what to who.

I'm not surprised that Franken would visit troops fighting in Iraq. I'm only surprised he'd visit the ones on OUR side.
