ATHENS, Greece - Muslims across Europe are confronting a rise in "Islamophobia" ranging from violent attacks to discrimination in job and housing markets, a wide-ranging European Union report indicated Monday.
In related news"
scorpians suffer from "scorpianphobes;"
rattlesnakes suffer from "rattlesnakeophobes;" and
unexploded bombs suffer from "unexplodedbombophobes."
I think somebody accidentally printed this editorial in the news section. Oh well, no one will notice.
A phobia is an irrational fear of something.
First of all, to fear Muslims is not irrational. It is quite rational considering the recent worldwide rise in Muslims violence.
Second, discrimination and violence cannot in themselves be catagorized as a "fear". They can, however, be symptoms of fear, but to ignore that distinction is misleading at best.
I am getting MSMophobes
Perhaps, respect should be a two way street.
The report urged EU nations to develop more clear legal frameworks for Muslim cultural and religious institutions, including ways to make more public funds available to Islamic community groups and help train local imams.
Are public funds being used to train Catholic priests and Lutheran Clergy? I think not.
It is after all America's fault. If we hadn't build the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, and if we hadn't built jets, the poor moslims would have nothing to be blamed for.
I do not fear islam, I despise it. I despise all that it stands for. I despise it's practitioners and is goals. I despise it's false prophet, and the culture of death that he and his follwers have spawned.
Oh please, cry me a river....
More violent attacks are called for.
""The key word is 'respect,'" she said. "People need to feel respected and included.""
Actually, respect and inclusion are something that one earns.
you reap what you sow.
mostly illiterate, emotionally childish followers of a murderous psychopath child rapist...sure, I want these cockroaches in my neighborhood /sarc
Heh, you joke about that but there are a "lot" of people who actually think that way.
"Islamophobia" good grief!
"I thought Muslims comprised a larger portion of the European population."
Amazing amount of consideration that 3.5% is given.

There are whiners and there are the ones who are truly victims of 'hate crimes'.
Re: Amazing amount of consideration that 3.5% is given.
It's usually the out-of-control crowd that moves a bell curve.
Yeah, I'd imagine Europeans are thinking the same thing. If 3.5% causes them this much heartache, they likely don't want to get to 3.6% anytime soon.
Their reputation is richly deserved.
