One reason Lott didn't bring it up, my guess, is because he doesn't know that.
I have become more and more aware of how LITTLE Congresscritters are of the things we assume they know about.
That thread yesterday, about the interview done with Silvestre Reyes, the new Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee...sealed that opinion for me.
The interviewer asked Reyes simple questions about the conflict in Iraq..the differences between Sunnis and Shiites, and Reyes had NO CLUE about the Middle East politically, religiously, tribally....NONE.
Also...I have heard in interviews that a LOT of these Congresscritters do NOT read much..not on the internet..and certainly not the legislation they are voting on.
And France does such a good job of pacifying it's own home grown terrorists!
I think the Economist along with other right wing publications in Britain are a little worried with what is happening in Washington and fear that if the US pull out the Brits will be left there alone.
Oh, yeah...the MSM is about as subtle as a sledgehammer in their biases.
WWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO AND AMEN!!!!!!!!
There is talk among McCain camp that if McCain wins Prez, then Lott would be his Sec.Housing.
Definitely NOT.
FNC deserved better.
Tony Blair thinks that resolving the Israeli/Pali situation is an important key. As Brit Hume pointed out, the Sunni and Shi'ia are NOT killing each other because of the Israeli situation. He is so right on some things, but he is just wrong on this.
LOL. BTW, Steffie is trying to look like he has lots and lots of gravitas while talking with Blair.
Wistful dreaming I hope...since it is Lott who's trying to get the Insurance Company to pay for his wrecked home....never mind that he didn't have the type of hurricane insurance that covered it.
"It's hard to talk to state sponsored terror countries that lose respect for you when you want to talk instead of getting it on. We may learn that one day."
This should be emblazoned on the cover of the ISG report after discarding its contents. That is all a resonable person needs to know about this.
Also, can someone tell me where these old reptiles get off telling the sovereign state of Israel how to placate her enemies, and the sovereign state of Iraq, with its democratically elected government, how to submit to 7th century despotic Iran, Syria, and Baker's paymaster, Saudi Arabia.
These "study" groups and our criminally stupid media setting out to prove once again, "Being an enemy of America is harmless (and fun) being America's friend is treacherous."
If we have the temerity to stay the course, my guess would be that the ups and downs that appear severe now will gradually die off.Sort of like a hurricane that slowly leave the area, lots of damage left over but sooner or later the tornadoes and high winds stop.
There will always be incidents of those who want to stir the pot and seek redemption as well. Like you say until jobs are plentiful and ambitions change from what they are now to making a living, family etc. the strife will continue. Iraq's ability to produce oil revenues should eventually provide a mechanism for rejuvenating the country as happened in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
How long that takes is debatable. Either way I am hoping there is never a day when some level of US forces are not in the country just to stabilize the lust by foreign powers to come in and create mayhem.
Wow, you are a good guy, for sure! Lucky wife!!!
I noticed that...he just left off the most important part. Oh, well.
For those of us that watch Congress on C-span, we need to keep track of their schedule...since they are making such a big deal about it.
Pelosi says her Congress will be the most ETHICAL, yet Wm. Jefferson was re-elected last night.
Steffie wants Blair to admit that we should have extended the inspections and he wants him to say he has "regrets" about Iraq.
Blair did not fall prey to any of Steffie's ploys.
Send her my best wishes for a speedy recovery my mother had both replacement knee and hip surgery.
The knee when she was still fairly fit and and well before the dementia got her so I am thankful she had a few of benefit from that surgery I pray your wife will have as well.
You missed a great Power Player segment. Marvin Hamlisch (sp).
I usually skip it but stayed tuned and glad I did.
