"Like a big shiney flying petri dish with windows!"
Thats a keeper -- a real word picture.
Very sad story. That is the part of the story for these outbreaks that we usually don't hear, the long term effects. A very good friend of mine had E. Coli about 13 years ago; it was the first time that I learned first hand about this dangerous bacteria. She had last rights, and was not expected to live. Amazingly, even her doctors considered her recovery truly miraculous, she did survive; after months in the hospital and a few years additional recovery. She now has two children, and no lingering health effects.

"Re-Electing the Devil"
By Sean Daniels
FrontPageMagazine.com | December 6, 2006
ARTICLE SNIPPET:
"Chavezs financing of terror is also a subject of much speculation. As high-level military defectors claim, Chavez gave $1 million to al-Qaida shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the United States. In addition to this, Rep. Michael McCaul, R-TX, accuses Chavez of providing identification documents to individuals from other parts of Latin America and from countries overseas that can be used to facilitate entry into the U.S. in a seemingly legal manner.
The difficulty for America in addressing Chavezs bid to finish off the U.S. empire lies in his now total control of the oil wealth of Venezuela, the worlds fifth richest exporter of oil and the fourth largest supplier to America itself. It is this oil-power with which Chavez mocks this country, vilifying Americans as cynical, hypocritical, [and] full of [
] imperial hypocrisy, even while offering New Yorks poor discounted oil in a supposed humanitarian gesture of compassion and fraternity.
As President Bush recognized in his last State of the Union address, we cannot continue to fund the countries that most want us destroyed. With this, combating Chavez and his ilk comprises more than just a military option. It forces us to reconsider our oil addiction and, once again, to test our ingenuity in the face of our enemies. It is a lesson we are learning in the Middle East and will continue to face until we have freed ourselves of our dependency on those who seek our destruction."
A successful food jobber then as now finds himself in a lucrative trade. McLane Co. gives this a whole new dimension. Today its the foods distribution sector of Wal-Mart Corporation, and McLane Co.s revenues are in ever-increasing billions, even though it is the new kid among Wal-Mart divisions...
McLane Co. Inc. (Wal Mart Owned Food Distribution Company)
Quite a big business.

PAKISTAN
December 5, 2006
This Travel Warning updates information on security incidents and reminds U.S. citizens of ongoing security concerns in Pakistan. This Travel Warning supersedes the Travel Warning dated April 7, 2006.
The Department of State continues to warn U.S. citizens against non-essential travel to Pakistan in light of the threat of terrorist activity. Family members of official Americans assigned to the Embassy in Islamabad and to the three consulates in Pakistan were ordered to leave the country in March 2002 and have not been allowed to return.
The presence of Al-Qaida, Taliban elements, and indigenous sectarian groups poses a potential danger to American citizens, especially along the porous border with Afghanistan. Continuing tensions in the Middle East also increase the possibility of violence against Westerners in Pakistan. Terrorists and their sympathizers have demonstrated their willingness and capability to attack targets where Americans are known to congregate or visit, such as hotels, clubs and restaurants, places of worship, schools, or outdoor recreation events. American fast food restaurants and other companies in Karachi were bombed in late 2005, resulting in several deaths and multiple injuries among Pakistani employees and customers. On March 2, 2006, an American diplomat, his locally employed driver, and three others were killed when a suicide bomber detonated a car packed with explosives in front of the U.S. Consulate in Karachi. Fifty-two others were wounded. Occasional sectarian violence has resulted in fatal bomb attacks in Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Lahore, and other Pakistani cities in 2006.
U.S. citizens who travel to or remain in Pakistan despite this Travel Warning are encouraged to register with the Embassy in Islamabad or the Consulates in Karachi, Lahore, or Peshawar. This registration can be completed online through the Department of States travel registration website at https://travelregistration.state.gov. Alternatively, Americans without Internet access should contact the nearest Embassy or Consulate for information on registering in person. Registration enables citizens to obtain updated information on travel and security within Pakistan via the emergency alert system (warden network). Americans in country should take appropriate individual precautions to ensure their safety and security. These measures include maintaining good situational awareness, avoiding crowds and demonstrations, as well as keeping a low profile, varying times and routes for all required travel and ensuring that travel documents and visas are valid.
From time to time, any post in Pakistan may temporarily suspend public services for security reasons. Official Americans may be prohibited from traveling to certain areas of Pakistan due to security concerns. Therefore, they may not be able to render immediate service to American citizens in distress. The websites of the Embassy and Consulates are regularly updated with the latest information on more specific travel restrictions and conditions.
Many areas of Pakistan, such as the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) along the Afghan border and the area adjacent to the Line of Control (LOC) in the disputed territory of Kashmir, are restricted for non-Pakistanis. The infrastructure of this region and some of the Northwest Frontier Province (NWFP) was devastated as a result of the October 8, 2005 earthquake. Many hospitals were destroyed and traveling even short distances can be very difficult. Travel to any restricted region requires official permission by the Government of Pakistan. Failure to obtain such permission in advance can result in arrest and detention by Pakistani authorities.
Contact information follows for all four posts in Pakistan:
The U.S. Embassy in Islamabad is located at Diplomatic Enclave, Ramna 5; telephone: (92-51) 208-0000; Consular Section telephone: (92-51) 208-2700; fax: (92-51) 282-2632; website: http://islamabad.usembassy.gov.

U.S. citizens requiring emergency assistance should call the Consular Section in Karachi; telephone: (92-21) 520-4200 or (92-21) 520-4400 after hours; fax: (92-21) 568-0496; website: http://karachi.usconsulate.gov.
The U.S. Consulate in Lahore is located on 50 Sharah-E-Abdul Hamid Bin Badees (Old Empress Road), near Shimla Hill Rotary; telephone: (92-42) 603-4000 or (91-92) 603-4250; fax: (92-42) 603-4200; website: http://lahore.usconsulate.gov/; email: amconsul@brain.net.pk.

Thought you all may like to see this:
Communiqué to the Government of the United States of America from the American Republic!
In The Name Of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise be to Allah The Cherisher and Sustainer of the Worlds
For over 200 years you have ruled with impunity. Your ancestors came to the Americas and slaughtered the indigenous humans that occupied these lands.
You allowed for crime and corruption to set up a government called democracy, to rule the land and enslave the ignorant and innocent. You guaranteed rights to only those that could understand your hidden agendas, while leaving the others to wander in lies and deceit. You have become the very government that you set out to destroy. You have destroyed the integrity of women and have allowed religion to control government. You have eaten animals for pleasure and want, and have disregarded the laws of Nature. You have set up 'shadow Government' to carryout your crimes against humanity. Voluminous essays have been written of your history, orators have spoken to the multitudes to explain your glory. And yet you have not conquered the human spirit.
In the words of your contract to yourselves written so long ago and to the people of America, (Declaration of Independence) you have allowed for those that wish to change government, have that right. But of course you will use law and force of will to deter that choice, even of pain of death.
Fortunately by the will of God and Nature we now outnumber those that wish to deny us all freedom to choose and of expression. We the People ask you to consider our words and consider our objective. We now thru your error of judgment have come to be a beacon of hope for all that wish to be free from the tyranny that has been forced on the masses. We are everywhere you seek. We are the ones that have the power to change our lives, without the will of others.
Your administration is a mockery of justice and of Law. Your people are suffering in your land as others are suffering and dying in other lands. You have invaded countries illegally and have murdered the innocent, You have used your armies to carry out your madness. Families in America are grieving for their young sons and daughters as are others in Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine, Sudan, and other Nations that are suffering the same fate. There will be no Christmas or New Year for many Americans and other countries that are at war for the rich. We are quite sure that if you, who tell others what to do are placed in a circle alone, you will beg for forgiveness and mercy. Freedom is knocking once again at the door, except this time we will let ourselves in.
We write and speak the truth. Those who are of the truth will listen to us.
We are a Legion of many, who will live a life of peace, and have respect for all living things, while having considerations for those who are different, and look for ways to truly accommodate those who are slow in understanding.
We support the poor, helpless, and defenseless people. We support the freedom of Women, we support the sane treatment of animals and the environment, we support the freedom of religion and expression. We do not support ignorance, period.
We are a growing nation of people that encourage anyone or Nation anywhere to become part of the New American Republic!
Sincerely,
Judah Ben-Hur
Ambassador

And so the final chapter begins.
The author's name is just a bit familiar, isn't it?
LOL, I overlooked that point.
Thanks Jill.
Do you have a source url for that communique?
P.S. Christmas blessings to you, Jill and hope
all is well.

Hamas smuggled $66 million in 8 months
By KHALED ABU TOAMEH
Hamas officials have managed to smuggle more than $66 million in cash through the Rafah border crossing in the past eight months, a member of the Hamas-led government revealed Wednesday.
Meanwhile, sources close to the Hamas-led government claimed that Hamas representatives recently held talks with officials from the US Democratic Party at a secret location.
The sources told the Bethlehem-based Maan News Agency that Hamas representatives have also been holding secret talks with European government officials, including Britain and France.
Palestinian Authority Planning Minister Samir Abu Aisheh of Hamas said the cash that was brought by Hamas officials was handed over to the PA Finance Ministry. He also revealed that the Hamas-led government has managed to pay 69% of the salaries to the PA's 160,000 civil servants during the same
period.
Altogether, the Palestinians have received $318 million in international aid since Hamas took over despite international sanctions imposed on the Palestinians, the minister said, noting that most of the money was channeled through the office of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.
This is the first time that a senior Hamas official reveals the total sum of money that has been smuggled into the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing. Several Hamas ministers, legislators and officials have managed to smuggle suitcases full of millions of dollars through the border crossing.
The most recent case occurred last week, when PA Foreign Minister Mahmoud Zahar returned from a 14-day Arab and Islamic tour carrying $20 million in cash. A week earlier, two Hamas legislators arrived at the Rafah border crossing each carrying $2 million in cash.
The report about contacts between Hamas and American and European officials comes in the wake of the breakdown of negotiations between Hamas and Abbas's Fatah party over the formation of a Palestinian unity government."
