But yes, so long as one's freedom doesn't interfere with another's freedom or security, we do in fact mind our own business like the good people we are.

Taking that argument, you should probably mind your own business then when the author exercises her right to free speech.

As it is, you are criticizing her for criticizing someone else.

I am only arguing about this because I think its about time people start calling these girls out for their behavior, and when people like you take greater offense at the author then at the actions of these girls, it gives people like Paris and Britney a "victim status" that they don't deserve.

I generally would. The reason I turned defensive was for the insipid accusation that (as a male) I am silent because I "may not respect young women like Lohan and Spears". This absurdity is doubled by the suggestion that I should strongly condemn them in order to remedy... remedy something.

To get straight to it- this is what I think of Britney: I don't.

It is amazing how people worship celebrities with their cash and attention, but then cry over their poor character. If Britney is a role model to anyone, then the outrage should be at the leeches who follow her. That goes for actors, singers, sports stars... society makes them rich, and then complains about their behavior.

Worse, they complain that I (someone who gave her zero $$) am not particularly bothered by her antics.

Hypothetically, if I new Britney personally, then I might be really annoyed with her. Perhaps I would not give her the time of day.

Or I might want to marry her.

The very last thing I would do is publish an essay attacking not only her, but the people who smugly ignore her. (Me!)
