We need to solve the problem, assuming it is even within our power to do so. Some suggest, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) for instance, that the United States should send more troops to establish stability and security. That idea probably made sense in 2003, but I think we are far beyond the point where we can fix this problem militarily. We have unleashed political, religious and ethnic forces that cannot be contained by a few thousand more American soldiers.
We need to talk with the states neighboring Iraq to work out a plan to keep that country together. They all have an interest in keeping Iraq in one piece. We would have to swallow our pride and actually work with countries we consider to be adversaries. So be it.
It is morally wrong for our nation to keep our soldiers fighting in Iraq. They are giving their lives in a war that was based on hubris and arrogance. They are giving their lives in a war that we cannot win.
We need to bring the troops home.

And the Germans might still be in France and more people would likely have been exterminated if the US didn't enter the War.
I don't have a problem... honestly. You did not like the way I answered the question that the article asked. I can understand that and it does not bother me. I am sorry if it offended you. In 6586 posts (counting this one); this is the first time I have been insulted as to my age and maturity level. Congratulations! :-)

Wait, didn't I insult you once? (Kidding, I thought your post was funny and appropriate. Takes all kinds.)
And .. the Vietnamization of Iraq continues:
Admit we can't win
Admit it was a blunder
Admit there is civil war
Admit Syria and Iran really want to help
Admit Bush is a dummy
DID I FORGET ANYTHING ..??
You really need to chill, your post 15 is really not what FR is about. You've been here long enough, stop acting like a newbie.
I'll take a chill pill and you stop preaching. Deal?
LLS
Thanks. I'll survive! ;-)

We will have to agree to disagree because it was pointed to the author of the article and not to the Freeper that posted. It may have been tacky, but was not "really bad". Difference of opinion is all.

This article is non-sense.
"Sorry, I don't like adding "BARF ALERT" to titles. Don't you think the article speaks for itself?"
I agree. They're a stupid, childish tradition around here.
Partly because it is written by a pacifist who is only pretending he has weighed all sides of the Iraq War and, after much thought, has decided it is immoral.
As a pacifist, he is opposed to all war.
A PDF file of Francis Pauc's essay, "How a Military Man Became a Pacifist," can be downloaded from a link at the bottom of the web page Catholics for Peace and Justice.
The very concepts of success or failure no longer have any meaning aside from being progress indicators of how well the plan to break the resolve of the people is going.
Sure it does but it also lets us know where you stand on the articles content.
Thanks for the reply. I think the essay has been posted in this thread. I'll try to make time to read it.
