Cold set to snap city record ( Inconvenient Truth : No Global Warming here )
CALGARY SUN ^ | 2006-11-28 | TARINA WHITE

Environment Canada says such low temperatures unusual for this time of year.

The arctic deep freeze trapping Calgary is on track to break a 110-year-old weather record today, but the bitter cold is expected to ease in the coming days.

With a forecast low of -31C today, Calgary could break the -27C record set on this day in 1896.

But factoring in the wind chill, it will feel even colder to people who have to brave the elements, said Environment Canada meteorologist Ross Macdonald.

It's even been too frosty to ski, with Canada Olympic Park shutting the hill yesterday in the name of safety.

Spokesman Chris Dornan said, to his knowledge, it's the first year the weather has forced a November closure.

"It's normally in January or February,"

Here's a sketch: Al Gore's down on his luck and for some reason or another find himself homeless. Staying true to form, he convinces himself he won't need to find shelter to stay warm during winter as GLOBAL WARMING is real.

The punchline is later on as he is shivering under a newspaper when a couple of unruly teens start harassing him. They tell him people are going to see him getting his ass beat on You Tube whereby he has a shining moment and a twinkle in his eye he declares emphatically, I was the man that invented You Tube.

We could break a record tonight here in Washington. I guess we are a victim of global warming too. :)

On the other hand, it's been unseasonably warm the past few days in New York City, with high temperatures near 60. We'll be in the cold weather by the end of the week.

Weather happens.

On the other hand, Toronto is forecast to establish a supposed new 'all-time' high today (according to the under 200 years for which 'accurate' records exist).

Depending upon which liar one listens to, it's going to get up to 14 - 17 Celsius today (roughly 57 - 62 F).

Alleged existing records:
Low: -13.3 (8 F) - 1941
High: +13.3 (56 F) - 1965

Who knows what any of this means but ...

One assumes all that's keeping Western Canadians warm at this point are fantasies of shutting off the flow of natural gas to Ontario?

Yep. I live in Calgary and it's been awful. Fortunately, I work at home and so haven't had to go out much.
But we'll have a Chinook in a couple of days and then it'll be heaven in the foothills again.

Cheers
Jim

Once again Kalispell, MT upholds its reputation as the banana belt. It's only 7°F (-14°C) here!

Isn't it interesting how the more they scream about 'global worming' the colder our climate gets, and the colder it gets, the louder they scream?
