Is there anyone here that thinks Mr. Richards meant his rant, and that he is a bona-fide racist? I do.
Not following these threads closely enough to know, and honestly not trolling.
There is no such thing as bad publicity.
Whether he is or not is not the point. I think that we've created a bizarre situation where whites are held to a higher standard than non-whites when it comes to this word.
Anyone who watches Def Comedy Jam knows that it's thrown around like nothing by blacks, so why are black entertainers not held accountable for using it?
Could it be because they are held to a lower standard of personal behavior because they are black?
Isn't that racist?
Now for the next question: how many people here care if he's a racist or not? I don't.
As for being a racist, try "calypso" Lois Farrakhan. When's the last time he shot off his mouth and wound up with Jesse the Gerbil and Fast Al Sharpton jumping up HIS @ss?
The guy was pissed off and responded rudely. I heard nothing of what was said prior. Chris Rock is probably qualified to comment on the M*****F***** though.
I think he did.
You may be right.
However, I fail to see where being a racist (or holding/speaking any other view) entitles anyone (i.e., the "victim") to a pile of cash.
When Gloria Allred shows up you know the circus is fully in town.
He sure did sound like a racist, huh? Is he?
Do his words make him one -- or do his actions? I guess according to you, one outburst on stage makes him a bona-fide racist. Interesting.
Richards is busily hammering nails through his own hands and feet.
Who cares? This P.C. crap is far more dangerous than anything a comedian might say to a bunch of rude idiots who decide to heckle him.
I dare say most people harbor some attitudes that the hypersensitive would consider "racist." I say "F" 'em if they can't take a joke.
"Is there anyone here that thinks Mr. Richards meant his rant, and that he is a bona-fide racist? I do. "
He has a 'right' to be a racist and espouse those views. I don't agree with it but I can't see a way to stop it that doesn't increase it. Also, 'racism' is one way. It seems blacks cannot be racist.
Sure the guy is a racist. He's also a typical liberal in that his "apology" blamed his outburst on the unsettled state of society (subtitle: Bush's fault and the Iraqi war's fault) and then there was the "that's not me" statement. A pox on him and his kind!
Anyone talking about lynching with the victim having a fork stuck in their buttocks isn't joking. Richards has more than a few screws loose, including at least all of his treat-your-neighbor-as-your-brother ones.
I think Richards was trying the "edgy comedian" bit, a la Andy Kaufman. When it went bad, he figured he'd just suck it up and apologize, not realizing the can of worms it would open. He should have just said it was an act, and stood by that no matter what anybody else said.
