Yes, hopefully. Would it hurt a Donkey-wannabe to talk at the White Citizens Council? Racist is racist. A group calling itself La Raza is off limits to anyone with a brain. Obviously Sen. Brownback doesn't have a brain. I certainly won't be voting for him.

" Being for immigration won't hurt him any more than being against it helped Buchanan in 2000. "
Being "for" what NCLR stands for isn't particularly "conservative".

You may be right. I admit to being unfamiliar with NCLR.

Your proposed order of dealing with things is eminently reasonable. I understand your reservations about a sweeping bill like Pence's. Unfortunately, politically it never works out that way. It's like those taxes to reduce the deficit that will later on be accompanied through spending cuts. Nobody ever gets around to the spending cuts. Usually, the amnesty comes first, and the enforcement provisions get watered down or simply forgotten. The answer could be border control first, except then there would be the very real danger of some anti-immigration votes(not just illegal) pulling out (the Peter Brimelow types)for phase II. The possibility of that happening will keep Phase I from being passed. That is why big expansive bills like Pence's exist.

But immigration is a proven issue that we simply can't trust the federal government on -- neither the Congress nor the responsible agencies. For good reason, I believe we should insist on an enforcement only bill and adopt a "prove it" posture until we get as close to what we want as we can.

If you're a Brownback supporter, by the way, be assured I've no other argument than this one with the Senator.
My sis and brother-in-law live in Kansas. Both are bleeding heart liberals. Both detest Brownback.
That's good enough for me.
