Females in the IDF generally aren't "in the field" anyway. They're in the rear, serving the gear, or running com centers, analyzing intelligence, and so forth. A handgun is really plenty for them, but an UZI would be better, or maybe she can buy herself an FN P-90. It would be perfect for her needs, and the needs of the other ladies of the IDF too.
I know, I used to work in Israel. Its a domino effect. When one of the lads has to be diverted to the tasks she would have done there is a consequence in the field.
Most IDF females [known as Chen to IDF squaddies] carry shorty versions of the M16. Indeed, the suitability for use by female soldiers was one of the reasons for the widespread adoption of the M16A1/CAR15/M16A2/M4 by the Israelis.
