The possibility of Rudy or McCain winning in the South are between slim and none and slim has left the building.

So it's Hillary, then.

Rudy is the man....these smear campaigns by democrats and others inherint on helping the witch will start to appear everywhere, don't be fooled....

Dems smear Rudy? LOL Oh that's a good one just like they smeared W in the election. {NOT} The media is gonna push the most Liberal one in the GOP as the most so called electable just like they did with Bob Dole and GW Bush.

No indeed if the Dems can't have Hillary their second obvious choice is Rudy or maybe McCain who just happened to be available to push every bad Liberal idea GW Bush ever dreamed up. The DEMs would be as pleased with Rudy as they have been with W doing their work for them maybe more so as he will take the GOP even further left which then the DEMs will run to the right especially with Hillary vs Rudy. Either way the Liberal Dems win.

I wasn't able to make much sense out of your post. What's a paip? What's a piap?

You call a judge "good" who favors tearing babies limb from limb?

What are you trying to say, exactly?

I think it's much too early to assume a "best of all worlds" candidate can emerge. I think several are holding back, waiting to develop their strategies in accordance with those who have already cast their hat into the ring.

They are always big issues, even if the politicians sweep them under the rug.

A number of posters on FR have begun a Rudy campaign and are saying he no longer holds those beliefs, that he's switched and is now pro-life and pro-gun rights. Ha! With no evidence of an epiphany, it is reasonable to conclude that any change of opinion is expedient rather than real and sustainable.

I lived under Koch and Rudy, and there is NO, NONE comparison between Rudy and any other GOP'er ready to run....

Me, too.

How can we explain this?

If Rudy is a liberal, why were the liberals all up in arms, foaming at the mouth, every minute he was in office?

Do liberals support a lock 'em up and throw away the key crime policy?

Do liberals support repression of socially deviant behavior?

Do liberals drop murder rates by 75%+ when they are in charge?

I was in Manhattan for the first time in a while last year, carrying a 2-year old. When I got on the E train at 53rd and Fifth, five people got up to offer me a seat.

Get with the program y'all, It's Rudy, or it's Hillary.

Everything else is just talk.

I actually believe a lot could change in the next 2 years. But as of today, you are likely correct.

I don't like Rudy .... he's a RINO and he doesn't play well with others

I must give him credit where it is due

he turned NYC around after it hat hit new lows under David Dinkins ... a man who constantly made you question .... question whether he was more corrupt or inept

Rudy's intolerance for small petty crime (squeegee guys, open containers and PIP) was really quite effective.

The theory being that if you tolerated an atmosphere of nuisance crimes with impunity it fostered opportunity for more aggressive and violent serious crimes

I just can't vote for a prosecutor .... his civil RICO litigation makes the Homeland Security Act look like condo rules

.

"Where do you guys get this crap from?"

Sorry, Zarf, but Rudy Giuliani is a proponent of gun control who supported the Brady Bill and the Assault Weapon Ban. That's fact, not "crap."

On top of that, he's for gay marriage and has refused to support a ban on partial-birth abortion.

More worrisome, however, is Giuliani's position on the issue of immigration. As mayor of New York, Rudy provided illegal immigrants with full access to municipal services. Even worse, he actually sued the federal government in an effort to keep New York City employees from having to cooperate with the INS.

Rudy might have been against urinating on the streets of New York, but he's the only Republican capable of convincing voters to urinate all over Hitlery's ambition to be President in 2008. The warm thought of that alone is enough to convince me to support his candidacy.

Rudy's not the only liberal who is strong on defense and tough on crime. So is Joe Lieberman, and like Rudy, Joe is a great guy. But just as I wouldn't want Joe to be President of the United States, neither do I want to see Giuliani in that job.

- And Hitlery differs from the above how?
At least Rudy as President would be constrained by the views on these matters by a Republican caucus who would make sure that he would not attempt to legislate on these issues and I doubt he would even try.
Hitlery, on the other hand, would have no such constraints and the thought of her and Slick Willie crawling about the White House infested with Hollywood leftist "sleep overs" for another four years literally turns my stomach.
If that's the options we face in 2008, it's no contest as to who gets my support.

<< The next President will be Rudy, or it will be Hillary. >>

Mr Giuliani's pretending to the presidency reminds me of the perennial pretending to power or even to significance in the bigger scheme of things of self-styled "founding father" and actual petty dictator of Singapore: Harry Lee.

Even these days, in his dotage, old Harry still struts the globe advising all comers on the way to more efficaciously run their countries.

Jiang Gang head and erstwhile "president" of the peoples' republic of China, Jiang Zemin reminded Harry of his place and put him properly in one day by publicly telling him that if he, Jiang, ever needed a spare mayor for Shanghai, he would have one of his PAs have one of his girls give ol' harry a call.

Unless he will run as a liberal "Democrat" and we run another RINO and as certain a loser, McCainiac, say, Mr Guiliani will be even a cabinet member the week after Hell freezes over.

The sooner you and Mr Guiliani get comfortable with that fact, the easier the rest of your life will be on you.

My fear is that as soon as Rudy Giuliani discovers that he'll be running against Hillary, he'll withdraw and make Rick Lazio rund for President.

Didn't Rudy vote for and support the Clintons? What is the difference in them?

Hillry has the votes to demonstrate she is pro National Security and she even voted for that House Border Fence Bill. Even though when it was first passed she claimed the Republicans in the House would make Jesus illegal if they could.
