I think some of the concerns come down to application of these laws. Will the renter with an Anglo surname have to go through the same checks to prove citizenship/legal alien staus as the the renter with an Hispanic surname? That is just a liberal argument to knock down a good law. Everyone will have to give proof of citizenship. Will the landlords scutinize the proof from Hispanics more thoroughly? Probably, but that is just the way it has to be when we have so many illegal Mexican aliens committing document fraud. If you are a citizen, you have proof, so it doesn't make any difference in the end.

It's hard for me to believe there are still some people (including various FReepers) who can't discern between illegal and legal immigration. (or citizens vs non-citizens) These folks are either stupid or just trying to cause trouble. Believe it; the Goebbels Technique is effective. There are far too many people who are willing to just swallow the "big lie" hook, line and sinker and the MSM happily pumps out propaganda all day, every day. It is plain to see that both factors are present... troublemakers are taking advantage of the stupidity of the American public.
Hitler summed it up pretty well when he said: "What good fortune for rulers, that the people do not think."

The ordinance has troubled many people in Texas, where many Latino families can trace their roots to the era before statehood. The media does all they can to lump families like mine in with illegal aliens, and certainly my family doesn't fall for it. Unfortunately, there are too many on both extremes of the issue (the chicano-power race baiters and the xenophones on each extreme end) who feed and thrive on this bs they are fed by the media.

I would love to see every community in every state enact similar laws so that the illegals are eventually funneled into the only sanctuary left .... Washington, D.C.
Maybe then the worthless Congress will wake up ... unless, of course, they instead vote to move the Capital rather than actually do the job they have taken an oath to do.

If they have been here 161 years or more they are not I-L-L-E-G-A-L-S!
I invite the Mexicans to come in to Texas and take back what was won the way it was "taken". By force.

Or they've never taken the walk across the border and spent a
day in a place like Matamoros.
And realized that's what the future of the USA looks like, thanks
to last Tuesday's election.
