Levy told The Press, I actually wore a green beret, a Vietnamese green beret. I served with one of the Vietnamese provincial reconnaissance units. Yes, it was green, with a parachute badge in front and wings on the side. ... But do I have a S identifier on my MOS? No. Thats not going to be there.
Aside from service, conduct, training and recruiting awards, the Army twice awarded Levy the Bronze Star, its fourth highest decoration given for bravery, heroism or meritorious service. He also won the similarly awarded Combat Infantrymans Badge, given after at least 30 days in a combat zone, and twice received the Meritorious Service Medal for outstanding non-combat service.
Seems he has a legit claim to be a hero, and a stretchable claim to be a beret. He's not a run of the mill imposter.
You mean like ADM Boorda? Levy lied, which makes it a "run of the mill" case of stolen honor.
When I was 6, I wore my sister's girl scout beret for a day. Does that count?
Has it been verified that what he is claiming now is the truth? Posers have been known to lie thinking they will never be caught and then if they are caught they make up another set of lies.
Before I believed anything this man had to say I would want the information about his service straight from the military records. I wouldn't even believe any paperwork he has, it is too easy to doctor.
I am very doubtful that someone that did what he now claims would feel the need to make up a lie about his service. This man sounds like a major poser.
If the latest version is all true, he should know better than anyone the lie that was told. And I am doubtful that the corrected version is compketely true.
Of course this all could be some kind of botched joke.
I think that is bunk as well.
From Army.mil: The CIB is Awarded to personnel in the grade of Colonel or below with an infantry or special forces military occupational specialty who have satisfactorily performed duty while assigned as a member of an infantry/special forces unit, brigade or smaller size, during any period subsequent to 6 December 1941 when the unit was engaged in active ground combat.
The article says he was Signal, not an 11B (Infantry) or 18 series (SF)
This guy's story stinks to high heaven.
I agree with you. It is a shame that someone who truly served with distinction still feels a need to lie about their accomplishments. Who was that admiral who committed suicide for wearing ribbons he didn't earn?
