Glad he waited till we lost.....
Yeah -- like that would have made all the difference!
Once again, a piece of information that would have been nice to have known YESTERDAY!!!
All part and parcel of the stubbornness which overcame the GOP this year. Rummy should have left months ago, which would have given the President a great opportunity to turn the page on Iraq, with new faces and approaches. Rummy served this nation well. But his pussyfooting in Iraq simply overwhelmed the natural patience of the American people. Americans don't give a crap how many Iraqi civilians we kill, so long as we win decisively. Instead we pussyfooted around Fallujah, investigated our men men incessantly, left Al Sadr alive (can you imagine MacArthur doing that?) and never took revenge for those charred and mutilated American bodies (again, Al Sadr should have died for that alone).
Indeed. I wonder how the elections would have turned out if he had stepped down on Monday afternoon.
My thoughts exactly! What a joke! If this move had been made a year ago, things would be different "the morning after"! Thanks a lot, Rummy! Too little too late!
Hate to say it but if he did it 2 weeks ago maybe we would have won.
Dunno if you were being sarcastic or not, but your thought was also my first gut-reaction.
Would more Republicans have been able to win/retain their seats if Bush had let Rummie go awhile before the election? It seems like the talking heads are saying that Iraq was the reason a lot of prominent Republicans lost.
Not that I believe everything the talking heads say, but we really lost more seats than all but the democrats thought we would.
Yes, it was the honorable thing to do and not use this for political gain like the Dems were baiting him to.
