What Republicans need to learn from tonight...
11/07/06 | Philistone

The most important thing that Republicans should learn from tonight is that America is a representative democracy.

This does NOT mean that your congress critter shares ALL your beliefs, or that he is a perfect human being, but rather that, in general, he votes the way you want him to.

It's like hiring a lawyer. You may despise his personal life and his principles, but what is important is that he WINS YOUR CASE.

Democraps could care less about the morals of their elected officials as long as they win.

Republicans could learn a lesson here...

I can assure you that I don't cling to any blankets.
For the record, I can't stand John McCain or most of the other RINOs. I'm a dyed in the wool conservative, and if you look at many of the democrats who won tonight, many are strong supporters of the 2nd amendment, some are opposed to abortion, etc. .....in other words, many of these democrats are themselves conservatives. If the democrats ran Congress as conservatives, republicans would be screwed. But the committee heads will be mostly ultra liberals. I 100% agree that republicans need to stick to conservative principles, or should I say go back to them.
Stop coddling illegals, rein in spending, stop looking to government as the solution to every problem, etc.

George Will stated that the new Congress will be more conservative than the old Congress. Interesting point.

LOL, dream on.

roses of sharon, it is conservatives like you that will make it very difficult to win back the house and Presidency in '08.

Blaming the media instead of what is the real reason for tonight, the Republicans leaving their conservative values, will only cause whatever majority the Dims have now to increase in '08.

It is unfortunate that you have given up to the MSM. Exactly what they were attemtping, exactly what they wanted, and exactly what they got.

"You're absolutely right. If we're going to build a true movement, we have to build a strong media (including print, radio and film) movement."

Ok Im in how do we do it? The libs own hollywierd and the press - what is the strategy to appeal to conservatives to give up their cash or time to choose a conservative news outlet to the liberal lying leftest media?

"Weed out closeted gay pederasts well before the month prior to the election."

The big tent strategy is over - either Republicans stand for family values or they dont. No more read my lips and watch me act like a leftest. Bush's Wife supports abortion and homosexual marriage. Its time to get rid of the RINO trash. The sooner the better.

Well, untie their hands...Nancy has already implied they are cutting funding as soon as possible for Iraq...we will not have to worry about how the war is fought..it will be a blood bath for the new democracy.

There is always hope for the future...

Remember, not even Reagan was blessed with both a Republican Senate and House for long...it's just the nature of things...and yet he accomplished much throughout both his terms...even if some argue not much was accomplished in his second.

You went right over my head. What is the lesson they should learn?

C'mon Russ; it's pretty obvious.

I think the biggest lesson the GOP should learn from tonight is don't abandon your base. The Dems might hold the Blacks on the political plantation for decades but White Conservatives won't stand for the GOP doing the same to them.

Had the Pubbies governed when they had control, ie. the immigration problem, excessive spending, earmarks, scandals, etc., we wouldn't have Nancy Pelosi third in line to the Presidency for the next two years.

Republicans should learn that if you act like big spending liberals then the people will simply decide to elect the real thing instead of maintaining the phonies.

...Especially when the incumbent is a big spender who fiddles with our private lives, seizes our property without due process and ignores the border insurgency problem right here at home.

The Democrats are winning because they ran as conservatives. The republicans are losing because they governed as liberals. That is a good lesson.

...And 100% true. "fillistein" (and the other Wednesday Morning Pundits) can take his pompous, moronic lecturing, print it on a sheet of paper, crumple it up into a ball, and stick it where he puts his head when he feels like doing any heavy thinking.

Why? Historically, this loss isn't to out of whack. This happens, and fact is, the current crew up there got lazy and got what was coming to a lot of them. Dewine especially.

If we manage to hold the Senate, I'll be amazed. That, in my book, will be a victory. The D's took on a lot of DINO's tonight.

Nancy has already implied they are cutting funding as soon as possible for Iraq

Nancy hasnt been the Speaker nor should they have been treated like the majority party.

By the way...now they're saying Allen is down and Webb is UP

Was Allen a RINO?

Considering the extent to which the House districts are gerrymandered it's increasingly obvious that the Democrats opened a big can of whupass all over the GOP.

The only thing I have learned tonight is it that most Americans are (politically) uneducated, unaware and just stupid. To give America over totally to a group of pacifists is unconscionable. America, by vote, wants to lose in the overall scheme of things.

Praise Allah as a national theme is next.
