As captains of mock trial teams at Carnegie Mellon University, Anand Shankar Durvasula and Sudeep Paul learned the inner workings of the courts.

They'll soon put that knowledge to use firsthand after being arrested on charges of trying to sneak into Heinz Field early Sunday and triggering a warning to NFL officials.

SNIP

Police found a video camera and tripod inside a silver Lexus sports utility vehicle with New York plates and registered to Kumar Paul, 51, of Woodbury, N.Y. It was parked at Art Rooney Avenue at North Shore Drive.

Two bomb dogs were used to check the SUV because of unidentified suspicious items found inside, and they indicated a positive hit for explosives, court documents said. A bomb technician was called in and declared the vehicle was safe, the affidavit said.

Does $1 million bond seem a little excessive for criminal trespassing charges? I don't think some murderers get that high of a bond.

If they really were up to no good, then fine, toss them under the jail for all I care, but all I see is a minor trespassing offense, certainly nothing warranting a million dollar bond.

They later said they were there to shoot a music video.

A review of the tape will probably find stadium surveillance and a suicide message. Good catch.

Uh when an earlier terrorist threat was posted about NFL stadiums being targeted, I don't see that as a "minor" trespassing issue.

Do you want a guy named "Sudeep Paul" playing cornerback? He got his name by leaving a twelve-yard cushion.

They use bonds to hold people for further investigation at times as well as to keep flight risks from hiding or fleeing back to the cesspool. When the perps are found to be harmless the can reduce it to 12 virgins and change.

Neither of their names is Islamic (seem to be your generic Indian name), they turned out NOT to be Middle Eastern, of course, and Sudeep Paul's homepage is totally inoccuous (unless you consider CNN.com being a favorite link being some sort of smoking gun.)

Maybe their names showed up on a watch list somewhere.

I'm no expert, but these sound like Hindu names, not Muslim.

Durvasula, 20, of Morgan Hill, Calif., and Paul, 21, of Woodbury, N.Y., were arrested after surveillance cameras showed them trying to get into the stadium at 1:48 a.m. yesterday, according to court documents...The two students offered conflicting stories about what they were doing at the stadium...

Yes their names probably are of Hindu Indian origin, but they do go to CMU, which is a limosine liberal hotbed of students being pro-che guevera, pro-mumia, and in this case could be a case of being pro-osama.
