I appreciate your feedback and will definitely consider it. I haven't sent the email yet. Maybe I should put an action line in there near the end about getting priests, pastors and bishops to educate their flocks...

I agree, if you have accepted Christ then their platform is a real turn-off.

I never could understand why so many Catholics that I know vote Dem when so much of what the dem party stands for is in direct violation of the Catholic Church's teachings. How can they do that with a clear conscience?

[ Why Should Christians Vote For Democrats? ]

They shouldn't.. The Democrat Party flys in the face of anything Judeo-Christian.. Neither christian nor Jew should entertain the democrat party.. But then not all christians are christians and not all Jews are Jews...

The difference?... A christian or Jew knows that the American democrat party HATES THEM... It is quite obvious..

Pgyanke is correct. Pelosi will be second in succession to the Presidency; NOT second in line. The Succession is 1. VEEP 2. Speaker of the House 3. Senate Pro Tem 4. Secretary of State

I cannot for the life of me understand how any true Christian could vote for anyone who aligns themselves with a National Party that espouses Abortion, Gay Marriage, Embryonic Stem Cell Research, etc.

But, a lot of old people are Dems because daddy and granddaddy were Democrat. Some are just politically ignorant. I've heard Christians say: "The Republicans are for the rich and the Democrats are for the working man." Sheer ignorance.

And, some say: "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's and unto God that which is God's." (Matthew 22:21) But, how do you separate the two?

By my reasoning, we are Caesar in this country. The Catholic Church has 2,000 years of dealing with authoritarian-styled governments. They need to learn to focus their energy and education on their flocks before their uneducated flocks vote for governments that oppose them. I have told many priests this and will continue to do so.

The first two paragraphs are deadly, and they must be dynamite, if you want anyone to read on. Clearly and succintly state your thesis and then point to what you are offering. Something like this, There are five important moral isues that are important in the congressional elections. Please review them below. When you do, I am sur you will agree that Christians should vote Republican.

So ..... Why isn't the NATIONAL Cathoilic Church making the same points?

Well, I can't speak for the National Catholic Church, but I can speak for the parish I attend. Our priest has, without officially stating how we should vote, discussed the sanctity of marriage and how we as Catholics need to support the institution. We have a marriage amendment on the ballot this year in Virginia, and my Church has been guiding parishioners toward preserving marriage. It's done tactfully and without a direct instruction on how to vote.
