You look though enough of the literature and you will find some rather stranger stuff. Check the Pardoner's Tale in Canterbury Tales.
I remember a good amount of off-color stuff from the parts of the Canterbury Tales that I read... but then, Chaucer isn't running for Senate. If he was, it'd be perfectly appropriate to use those writings to assess what sort of man he was.
