October 23, 2006, is the 23rd anniversary of the bombing of the US Military barracks in Beirut, Lebanon. As has been done every year since that day, the city of Jacksonville, NC, will hold a service in honor and memory of the brave Camp Lejeune Marines and Sailors that died that day. The service as always will be held at the Beirut Memorial which bears the name of every service member who died that day or in connection with that event. The monument also bears the words "They Came In Peace". May each and every one of them rest in peace and may God bring comfort to the members of their families, many of whom travel great distances every year to be present at the memorial service.
