A feature film about Palestinian suicide bombers called "Paradise Now" caused an outcry earlier this year among Israelis. They said it was too sympathetic toward its main characters, who are depicted as being motivated by anger at Israel's occupation of the West Bank and Gaza.
A new documentary, "Suicide Killers," by French-Jewish filmmaker Pierre Rehov is sure to draw barbs from the other camp. Rehov interviews Palestinians imprisoned for trying to detonate suicide bombs and concludes they're influenced by a religious culture that represses sexual desires and channels the resulting frustration into homicidal rage.

I talked to one of the girls who survived an attack in Haifa. She was a waitress. She was 17. She saw the taxi stop by the cafe where she was working, she saw a guy come in, going straight to her, and opening his shirt and showing dynamite around his belt. He pointed with his finger toward the dynamite and said, to her, "Do you know what this is?"
I've studied psychology, and there are a lot of things connected to flashers -- they want to destroy innocence. I realized that these guys in the last minute of their lives have this same behavior. This is when I understood there is something really sexual about this extreme act they want to commit. I knew (about the Islamic religious belief) of 72 virgins, and I also knew about how sexual frustration can lead to people becoming serial killers.

How many serial killers roamed America in the '50s?
And how many have we had since we were liberated by the intelligencia?
I have speculated about this in the past. On one hand, Islam stifles sexuality (women wear veils, premartial sex is forbidden, as is alcohol and pornography), on the other hand you have the reward for killing yourself (72 virgins). I can see where a gullible young man with raging hormones would do almost anything to get their "reward".
As for American in the 50s, as I recall, people were still getting laid--they just weren't open about out. And there were certainly serial killers then too--how many is an open question. You can say there were fewer, but law enforcement may not have been sophisticated enough to connect the dot like they do today.
An interesting question. I tried to find decade-by-decade stats on this but came up empty.
And, as you say, America in the '50s was probably not sexually repressed. Hollywood movie companies, who would have made more money if they could have gotten away with putting sex on movie screens in the '50s, may have felt repressed. And, since any supression of their creative impulses is to be equated with the grinding of the heel of the boot of fascism in the face of humanity...
There is a similarity between sexual psychopathic serial killers and islamic homicide bombers.
I don't need to see a film to know what their mind is - they spew it out of their mouths all the time - DEATH TO AMERICA - DEATH TO ISRAEL.
What more do people want to know ..??
Ireland was sexually suppressed in the '50s... but the murder rate was extremely low, of course, sexual activity went on in private - some of it depraved.
"How many serial killers roamed America in the '50s?"
You want a serious answer? One of the most notable serial killers of all time, Ed Gein.
Also Harvey Murray Glatman, Billy Cook, Martha Beck and Raymond Hernandez, Charles Starkweather, Jack Gilbert Graham, possibly the Cleveland Torso murderer was active in the 50s, the last possible victim was found in 1950.
As rgb81 alluded, there were probably many more who just weren't caught or their serial murders were never connected due to the lack of technology at a time. I always assumed this is why the only mass murderers we really know of from before the turn of the century were incredibly flagrant and heinous and eccentric; anything less could have slipped under the radar.
A question, Wasn't there an enlightened lady in our past admin. by the name of "Elders" or some such... that had some answers to sexual repression. Just a shot in the dark, mind you...
"premartial sex is forbidden"
You mean uder Islam you can't have sex until you join the military?
(Heh, heh, couldn't resist that one! Don't worry, I transpose all the teim.)
