Thank you for doing another one for us. I am very intersted in every one of them and appreciate your work very much. This one is especially intersting as it is another piece of the puzzle about what was going on at that time and the way it fits with some of the other information we already had.

Sorry I'm so late with the ping! I probably won't be able to fully read and comment until later, but this one could be good, and timely (9-11 and all)

As always, I am honored to know such a dedicated and honorable man as you are, jveritas. I wish I was rich enough to have my own newspaper. If I did, your research would be on the front page every day and I'd give the newspapers away for free just so more people would become educated. Thank you for all that you do!

Again, my thanks for your work on this project. It proves how right this country was to go into Iraq--if only the major news organizations would publish not only the translation, but commentary on the implications of these papers.

Thanks, jveritas. This came shortly after the memo you translated:

APRIL 2001 : (UGANDA : BEKKAH ABDUL NASIR, 'CHIEF OF DIPLOMACY' OF A UGANDAN GROUP TIED WITH ISLAMIST ORGANIZATIONS KNOWN AS THE 'ALLIED DEMOCRATIC FORCES,' aka ADF, SENT A LETTER TO THE HEAD OF THE IRAQI INTELLIGENCE SERVICE INFORMING THEM OF PROGRESS MADE IN TRYING TO ESTABLISH AN INTERNATIONAL MUJAHADEEN TEAM TO SMUGGLE ARMS TO JIHADISTS WORLDWIDE - LETTER REFERS TO BAGHDAD AS "HEADQUARTERS FOR INTERNATIONAL HOLY WAR NETWORK") In a letter to the head of the Iraqi spy agency, a senior ADF operative outlined his group's efforts to set up an "international mujaheddin team." Its mission, he said, "will be to smuggle arms on a global scale to holy warriors fighting against U.S., British and Israeli influences in Africa, the Middle East, Asia and the Far East."
The letter, dated April 2001, was signed: "Your Brother, Bekkah Abdul Nassir, Chief of Diplomacy ADF Forces."
[Bekkah Abdul] Nassir offered to "vet, recruit and send youth to train for the jihad" at a center in Baghdad, which he described as a "headquarters for international Holy Warrior network." It was not clear whether the center was established. "We should not allow the enemy to focus on Afghanistan and Iraq, but we should attack their international criminal forces inside every base," the letters said. The authenticity of the letters, however, could not be verified. - "Papers connect Iraqi spies to African terrorist group," BY PHILIP SMUCKER AND ADRIAN BLOMFIELD, Chicago Sun-Times, April 18, 2003

This also occured shortly after your memo's date:

APRIL 8 or 9, 2001 : (ATTA MEETS WITH AL ANI - at some point before 9/11/01 Atta also met with Ahmed Kanaan) A declassified 2002 Pentagon presentation attained by Newsweek’s Mark Hosenball offers fresh details on a suspected April 8-9, 2001, meeting in Prague between September 11 ringleader Mohamed Atta and Iraqi Intelligence Service (IIS) station chief Ahmed Khalil Ibrahim Samir al-Ani. “No other intelligence reporting contradicts that [deleted] report,” the heavily redacted document states. It adds: “During one visit, al-Ani ordered IIS finance officer to issue funds to Atta.” According to one slide, “Atta also reportedly met with Iraqi Charge d’Affaires Hussein Kanaan.” Also: “Several workers at Prague airport identified Atta following 9/11 and remember him traveling with his brother Farhan Atta.” --------- "The Butcher with the Terror Ties - The evidence mounts," (Newsweek reports on Atta in Prague, 2001) NRO ^ | January 13, 2006 | Deroy Murdock

Also :

2001, spring : (UNITED ARAB EMIRATES : AL-SHEHHI, JARRAH MEET WITH IRAQI INTELLIGENCE OFFICERS) The CIA has evidence that two more hijackers, besides terror leader Mohamed Atta, met with Iraqi intelligence officials earlier this year - bolstering arguments for a Baghdad role in the attacks, it was reported yesterday. The two other skyjackers were Atta's friends and co-conspirators, Marwan al-Shehhi and Ziad Samir Jarrah, who were believed to have been at the controls of two of the pirated jets on Sept. 11. The Observer newspaper of London reported yesterday that senior U.S. intelligence sources said they have "credible information" al-Shehhi and Jarrah met with an Iraqi agent last spring. The secret meetings took place in the UAE, the paper reported. - New York Post, "2 (3) More September 11 Hijackers Tied To Iraq" November 12, 2001, by WILLIAM NEUMAN http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/587611/posts

The truth is being put out there for us- but because the gov is short on translators and would face nothing but delay in getting these out, it was decided to speed up the job by bypassing government translators and just let Arabic-speaking Americans take a shot at it. Even so it still takes time, and the administration will have to wait for the translations and take a look at people's work before they can comment on it. The best thing about this is the gov will be able to compare translations from various people to those they are getting from their own hirees and that way check for accuracy.

Well, I'm all for accuracy and vetting info before releasing it. But the timing on this info. seems pretty crucial here. We really can't afford to lose even one seat to the Dems next month, considering what's going on with N. Korea and Iran (and Iraq). And the American public needs to know this info bad, and HAS needed to know it for too long now.

It just always seems like the Reps sit on crucial information like this and wait and wait, instead of fighting back. I'm just a little frustrated with this same ole, same ole 'Mr. Nice Guy Republican' routine, I guess. The Dems have been anything 'but' nice, and I'm sick of their lies....especially about the WMDs that were there before they were transported out 3 mos. before we went into Iraq. The Reps have virtually let the Dems get away with that campaign of lies for three years now, without significant rebuttle or without slapping them down. I think the Reps have played things way too passively for too long. It's time to take the gloves off. It's now or never. (just my 2 cents)

The Iraqi intelligence memo and the Iraqi Ari force memo both came in March 2001 and both called for hitting US interests, no doubt that there was a plan to do so.

If this Iraqi intelligence memo was known to the American public before the war started it would have helped to increase the support for the war then and the same goes for the Iraqi Air Force memo that also talked about recruiting from their own ranks to conduct suicide missions against US interests.

Since untold millions of dollars were wasted on the 9/11 Commission Report, can't we get a Iraq Report detailing all the evidence you have uncovered since we invaded that country and overturned Saddam Hussein?
