This is eerie. I do not remember much being made of this at the time.
Funny how the memory goes....
A 17 year old page? And he actually had sex with him?
And then didn't resign?
I'm finding this all hard to believe.

I'm finding this all hard to believe. Don't be surprised - at the time, the MSM had an almost absolute lock on what we saw.
God Bless Al Gore for inventing the Internet so we can actually have access to the truth!

And,BTW,it must be noted that Studds got the kid drunk before having buggered him.

Ah, that's because you're not a Demoncrat. It makes perfect sense to a Demoncrat to have DOUBLE STANDARDS and feign outrage ONLY because a Republican is involved.

Two sex with pages scandals at the same time. A conservative Republican (Dan Crane, brother of Phil) from downstate Illinois had consensual, adultrous sex with a female page. And this Studds geek, a liberal Devilcrat who had sex (possibly coerced, my memory on that is fuzzy) with a male page. Guess who stayed in ofice.

Not only didn't resign, but was re-elected 6 MORE TIMES!

Maybe hard to believe, but it is TRUE.

Not only did he not resign, during the censure vote he turned his back on the Congress. He also received 3 standing ovations from his "colleagues" on the Democratic side of the isle. Boy wouldn't a video of this be delicious for a few late minute commercials around the country by the RNC.......

One thing I'll never forget from those days was driving into work in Boston and someone had hung a banner off a highway overpass. It read...STUDDS LOVES KIDS.

Actually, it was covered in the MSM at the time, but there was a counterbalance (moral equivalency) with a GOP Congressman having had relations with a female page ... guess who lost his seat, and who continued in Congress, eventually assuming a powerful committee position?
