Young Christian women are among the preferred targets of Iraq's growing abduction problem with many being raped and some committing suicide as a result of the shock, violence and shame they experience.
AsiaNews says that this is all happening in Baghdad where kidnapping has become a growth industry. Criminal gangs are lining their pockets as the number of victims grows and the line-ups at border posts grow even longer with people trying to flee the country.
Christians from any denominations, clergy or laity alike, are one of the preferred targets in the capital.
In Mosul on Monday, another priest was abducted, Fr Paulos Eskandar, from the Syrian Orthodox Church. A huge ransom has already been asked.
Sources in some communities of nuns in Baghdad have relayed other stories they witnessed. Last Sunday two young Christian women were abducted but under different circumstances: one at home as her helpless family could do nothing but watch; the other, at an open market where four armed men spirited her away in a car leaving behind a distraught mother.
Often incidents do not end with the prisoner's release. In one case in Baghdad, the victim committed suicide after the ransom was paid and she went home because of the torture and sexual violence she suffered.
In another case, a young woman talked to her family by phone and told them: "I'm dead", referring to being gang raped. She eventually committed suicide whilst still in the hands of her tormenters.
Unofficial estimates put the number of young women and girls abducted in the last two weeks at 12.

The leftists had better lose or soon it will be happening in America too.

Me too. If it were up to me I would move all the US troops north to Kurd land and arm the Kurds to the teeth and watch as the rest of these idiots killed each other.
I suppose now that Catholics are going to be like Jews in Germany in 1939. They cant get out , they waited too long.

I suppose Islam allows the rape of infidels before they are killed.Promise of all the rape and pillage they could stand was what drove the early jihad across North Africa and into Spain. That, and the 72 perpetual virgins awaiting them in Paradise if they were killed. One could say Islam was rape-driven from the start.

"Hard to pick sides in this fight. Shia , Sunni, One is as bad as the other." We got rid of their brutal dictator. We have set up their government, police forces, military, and infrastructure. Many of our most brave and heroic have lost their lives over there, and still the Iraqis as a whole can't seem to turn the corner from being a sick, savage society to being a modern day civilized population. I'm about to the point of just saying to hell with them. We have done our part and it's about time for them to do theirs. We can't babysit them forever.

I have never seen a leftist advocate raping young Christian women. I want to see a citation for that.

Death, mayhem, rape, threats, murder, mass destruction. Can these folks do anything that doesnt involve violence or death?

Its o.k. for a Muslim to enslave a non-Muslim and you can do anything you want with a slave.
Of course, it isn't o.k. to enslave a Muslim if you are a Muslim.
I wonder what the hell is going on there? Is this why we invaded Iraq??
The U.S. apparently doesn't read Clausewitz. You destroy your enemy as quickly and brutally as possible and avoid a long protracted conflict. We didn't do that. The Fallujah catastrophe stands out as a perfect example. Fallujah and every living thing in it should have been pulverized after they butchered those American contractors. We didn't do anything and sent the primitives a message - westerners haven't got the stomach to retaliate in force.
Our invasion of Iraq was too "surgical", too low-casuality - on the Iraqi side. And our trying to make these primitives Democrats is an exercise in futility.
So where do we go now? If we pull out without having pacified these primitives, the insurgents move in and create another terrorist state or the Iranians take it over directly or indirectly. Then they use it to export more terror.
We have allowed ourselves to be drawn into drawing a line in the sand instead of executing a blitzkrieg which destroyed Iran, Iraq and Syria. So now we sit.
The U.S. can't win a war fighting these idiots unless we take off the kid gloves, ignore the U.N. and smash any center of resistance instantly. Alternatively, we throw up a sanitary border perimeter around Iraq to keep the Iranians and Syrians and others out, give up on the idea of Democracy for primitives, and back a brutal dictator who is on our side.

I suppose Islam allows the rape of infidels before they are killed. Yes, as a matter of fact, Islam does. Demons, that's what they are. No human could do the things the Koranimals do.
