I echo that, Aussie Dasher! God bless Bindi. She's a strong and brave little girl who wants to honor her daddy. God bless her....and her mom, her brother, her family, her friends and those who will deeply miss her father. I know we will.

Poor child. Trotted out like this so soon after her father's death. Scandalous.

I hesitated before I quoted what you said. I pray that child never reads words such as yours. Who are you to accuse her of being "trotted out", and say that this is "scandalous"? No offense intended, but in my honest opinion, your comments are totally uncalled for and cruel.

She's 10x the better person than I am. He's a true steel magnolia: beautiful outside, and better inside.

He did what Ronny RayGun and W said it best: he married up.

Methinks she found her soulmate, lived a lifetime in such a short amount of time, and will miss him terribly for even longer. At the other end of the tunnel, she will be much stronger and resiliant for it.

It's the very rare child of 8 that "has a purpose in life" which has not been foisted upon them by adults. I believe we push children into adulthood at far too young an age now. That she should be pressured to step into the shoes of a grown man at the tender age if 8 just seems wrong to me. I guess I've seen to many ruined by show business.

so you would think it best to wrench her from the life she has known since she was born and isolate her to grieve and "be a child" somewhere? i think she would be miserable and resent having the life she has known torn from her, along with her dad. it is a RARE CHILD of any age that is able to live the sort of life she leads,i think it would be cruel to deprive her of it.

I agree...they're talking about her taking on his legacy..IT'S ABSURD. She's 8 years old. She really doesn't understand everything.

Steve and Terri had devoted their lives to wildlife and conservation long before he started the show. That show gave them the ability to expand their zoo and start their foundation. Most of the profits from their endeavors go to support their conservation and education efforts. They are the real deal, not just "show biz".

It's a blessing to them that they enjoyed the success they did so that they could devote themselves in such a spectacular way to their life's work. What lucky children Bindi and Bob are to have this legacy.

You seem bitter, perhaps you are envious of their sucess in life, both financially and in finding work that is so fulfilling to them?

Wrestling with gators is nothing I aspire to in life, so I could hardly be jealous. :) Admittedly I don't care much about conservation either. My entire point has to do with the 8 year-old child who seems to have not been given the time to mourn her father or adjust to his death, before she is being crowned his successor. A big responsibility to place on such small shoulders. That's just my 2 cents.

Bindi Irwin is the toughest 8 year old on the planet Earth.

wow..you know every 8 year old on the planet...that's quite a feat. There are millions of children who lead rough, miserable lives that I guarantee are tougher than Bindi Irwin's. My nephew was eight when his Father (my brother) was diagnosed with Cancer and watched him die a long, cruel death. That's what I consider tough.

" A big responsibility to place on such small shoulders."

True. But who's to know if it wasn't meant to be?

Right now it seems like they are throwing her into his shoes, but it is a continuation of what she was already doing. As she grows, she has the ability to change her mind, and take her own path.

I am absolutely sure she will do just that.

What others 'think' or 'say' right now makes very little difference.

Trust in Terri to guide her daughter as any other good mother. I am sure Steve trusted Terri to do the best for his daughter.

If Steve hadn't died so soon she'd also be the luckiest 8 year old on planet earth.

You obviously don't remember what it is like to be a child. Children are not supposed to "mourn", it is possibly the most destructive thing that can every happen to them save disease and death!

I "mourned" over a relative's murder when I was 10 and now at the age of 16 I have paranoid schizophrenia!

Want that to happen to beautiful little Bindi? I hope not.

They're beautiful children and they have beautiful parentage. I think their 'hearts' are beautiful, too, all of them.
