Even during my school days, the 1940s and 50s, we were being taught that the USA was a democracy. I only discovered as an adult that we are a Republic.
I suppose the dumbing down of America has been going on for longer than most people realize.
God help us!

Its been going on since John Dewey brought humanism into the public school system.

I suppose the dumbing down of America has been going on for longer than most people realize. The dumbing down is basically complete.
