Kim Jong-il's brother-in-law injured but alive in a traffic accident

Jang Sung-taek, Kim Jong-il's brother-in-law, reportedly had a traffic accident in Pyongyang last month.

On Oct. 8, according to multiple sources on N. Korea, the accident occurred at a four-way crossing in front of N. Korean Military's Performance Theater, located in Moranbong District. Jang's Mercedes S600 sedan was hit from behind by a freight truck belonging to a foreign trade enterprise of N. Korean military.

This crossing is connected to (N. Korea's) Arch of Triumph, Sujang-dong of Botong-gang District, Victory Memorial Museum, and Botong Gate. Jang's sedan was turning left to go in the direction of Sujang-dong, when the military freight truck coming from Arch of Triumph hit it from behind.

Jang's life was not in danger, but suffered from serious back injury, and his sedan was severely damaged, rendering it almost irreparable.

The sources said, "Unlike the traffic accident of Party Secretary Kim Yong-soon(in the past,) in this case, his chauffeur drove the car, and it was not an weekend, it happened in broad daylight, and the chauffeur had no drink."

There were so many bystanders and cops handling the accidents at the scene that news spread like wildfire.

Among N. Korean elites and citizens, rumors spread that it cannot be an accident because his chauffeur was not drunk and a female traffic cop was directing traffic using hand signals at the time, making it virtually impossible for such an accident to occur.

The sources say, "People are pretty much sure that this is the plot against Jang by his opponents."

Jang Sung-taek's only daughter Jang Kum-song died of sleeping pill overdose after having drinks last August when she was recalled to N. Korea. She was studying at Paris, France.

Jang was relieved from his duty and punished for 'factionalism due to power grab' since 2004, but restored to current lowered post at the end of last year.

This report is quite specific and detailed. It is as if somebody filed a report from the accident scene.

Kim Jong-il would not like it. He has a lot to worry about.

Possibly. Kimberly (my nickname for the Dear Leader) hates it when his relatives die without his permission.

I think the biggest news here is the fact there is traffic in Pyongyang to even have an accident.
