Rush's ex doing all right – in real estate

Thanks to her 10 years of marriage with hard-right radio talker Rush Limbaugh, former aerobics teacher and Limbaugh groupie Marta Maranda has become quite the little real estate mogul.
Within months of their December 2004 quickie split, Maranda, 46, suddenly owned nearly $13 million in properties — mostly a $9 million
Now, bucking the real estate downward spiral, Maranda has grown her empire by 50 percent.
Earlier this year, she sold the Palm Beach place, a five-bedroomer on Caribbean Road near Limbaugh's $35.5 million compound, for $12.5 million, according to county records. And last month, she unloaded the Coral Gables joint for $4.7 million.
She flipped some of the money into an $11.5 million mansion on Jupiter Island, just two blocks south of links king Tiger Woods' new digs, another Miami condo bought for $647,000 and a $435,000 house at Maplewood, Jupiter.
Because of confidentiality agreements, no one who knows details about the divorce — Limbaugh's third — is allowed to talk about it. In late December 2004, Limbaugh and a lawyer traveled to Key West to file for divorce. Within hours, the deed was done, and the settlement sealed.
Maranda never even showed up in court. But she obviously did well and is now doing even better. That, says high-profile area divorce lawyer Jeff Fisher, puts Maranda way above your average rags-to-riches ex-wife.
"A minority of the wives in big-money divorces become entrepreneurs," he said. "Usually, they invest conservatively in bonds. Many lose it all, too. Like lottery winners, not too many of these wives can handle wealth."
Could White House suck-up Limbaugh claim some of that money back? Nope, says Fisher. "But if he is paying some kind of support, he could ask a court to lower those payments."

PALM BEACH PROPERTY
Evan W. Heitzman, Tracey E. Whitesell and James K. Whitesell have bought the property next to their current home in Palm Beach for $12.5 million, or $1,601 per square foot.
Marta Maranda, as trustee of the Marta Maranda Revocable Trust dated 02/28/03, was the seller. The Coral Gables resident is the ex-wife of the radio commentator Rush Limbaugh. She bought the waterfront home in February 2005 from the RH Trust, which belonged to her former husband, for $9 million. This is the same amount of money the trust had previously paid for the property in October 2003.
The five-bedroom house, at 318 Caribbean Rd., has 7,810 square feet of living area on a 1.1 acre lot. Built in 1966, the house is a likely candidate to be knocked down.

Rush has really changed a lot over the years. Remember all those gay and homeless "updates" he used to do, with the songs and sound effects in the background.
He got a lot of complaints about them in the media and country clubs and he phased them out.
And I've got news for you: If you think Rush caters to the "country club" set, you don't know him very well.

Did Marta leave Rush because of Rush's drug addiction? I never heard the reason for the split.
I can take or leave SLimbaugh. He's made his and his fire is out. Try Boortz.
I don't listen to him as much as I used to when he first went on. Does he still do the gay updates with My Boy Lollypop?
I thought he stopped those.
He got some complaints from me too. I got tired of what seemed like three minutes of song for a twelve second update. I swear Rush put those on so he could have a quick restroom break during the show.
Any compound should be burned to the ground immediately.
