Totally agree that the times need to circle the bowl with the rest of them.

"I believe tomorrow we will see a full court press by GW and the repubs at fighting back. A few jabs and the donks always get knee wobbly."

I don't think that can happen in this case. With Foley's lawyer talking about "double life and behavioral issues" you know there are more problematic revelations to come. I think everyone should stay quiet until the next chapter of this story is revealed.

When a 50yo gay man (and, by the way, everybody on Capitol Hill knew Foley was gay) starts sending emails to 16yo boys asking for pictures, it's time to ask some serious questions. The emails were very odd.

The page was from Louisiana. The emails started out asking about Hurricane Katrina, how was he, was his home destroyed, etc. and morphed into questions about vacation, fishing, etc. later. When the GOP leadership found out about them (the emails) they told Foley that they were inappropriate and he said he would cease communications. Obviously if the Instant Messages are older than one year old then that is before Hurricane Katrina and changes things considerable. But that doesn't mean the GOP leadership took steps to cover this up. And if fact doesn't confirm that they knew anything else than what they've already admitted to knowing.

Yes, the Libertarians, in general, seem not to have the courage of their alleged convictions.

The experience here is they'll turn on you in a New York second ~ and sometimes for no reason at all.

They're definitely not to be trusted politically.

There's nothing new here. As far back as I can remember, the Dims have ALWAYS tried to come up with something a few weeks before November to give them a boost at the polls. And whatever it is, they can always count on their friends in the media to keep up a constant drumbeat until election day.

Does anybody remember the Cuban missile crisis? JFK knew about the missiles LONG BEFORE October, but he cynically waited until two weeks before the election to reveal what the Communists were up to.

Republican Sen. Kenneth Keating had been warning the country months before that, and he didn't have access to the U-2 spy plane material! Yet Kennedy waited dangerously late, until the last possible moment, to go on TV because he knew the voters would rally behind the president in a crisis and maximize the Democrat vote.

From that time forward, the Dims have continually risked our safety just to get a few more damn votes.

To what extent is it the duty of the House Leader to keep tabs on private emails between other members of the house and their pages?

(remember the guy Colorado paid to fly back from Thailand? California wanted him for kiddie porn, but they seem to have "lost" his computer filled with evidence against him)

Time to share the love. I wonder what Howard Dean knows of Barny Franks less then youthfull indescretion.

How about a little "are you now, or have you ever been a member of the Klu Klux Klan".

Fighting Fair has just been given broad latitude.

This is what I've been saying! The IMs probably came from a page who became an activist, but I cannot imagine how the original emails ended up in anybody's hands if the parents didn't want it going anywhere.

Earlier today a post which referenced Brit Hume's show talked about how Alexander used to be a dem, kept on dem staffers who were bitter about the change and they leaked the e-mail to their buddies.

I do not know how this was sourced by Brit, and it is the only direct reference I've seen to how the media might have gotten the e-mails.

Absolutely not. Foley is one man in a party, he is not the party. The party needs to fight bak against this tar and feathering and follow the popcorn trail to the IM holders. Heads will roll, and they will be Foley and the holders of the IMs and those that knew of them, which are donks.

I also read somewhere that Jason Leopold ("Rove Indicted May 12", bwahahahah) was possibly involved but I've not seen a clear connection.

Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-La., who sponsored the page from his district, told reporters that he learned of the e-mails from a reporter some months ago and passed on the information to Rep. Thomas Reynolds, R-N.Y., chairman of the House Republican campaign organization.

Wait one freaking minute! Alexander says he heard of the e-mails from a reporter??

So, it looks like the original story about congress contacting the kid's parent's (instead of irate parents contacting congress) was correct. So how upset were these parents?

Well the democRATs needn't look for any votes cast in their direction from this neck of the woods, we're all straight line Republicans in this neighbourhood. We don't even have a token democRAT we can go and kick just for the h@ll of it.

You're right that it could come out that every thing was faked, but not that Foley is innocent, well not exactly, anyway. He is at least guilty of being over friendly with minors, on line. But whether or not he committed a crime has not been proven. Heck, it has not even been proven that any crime was committed. This is setting up to be another investigation like the Valerie Plame investigation of a non-crime. Hastert better not fall for it, like Ashcroft did and recuse himself.

There are a couple of threads on Sunday that cover the Jason Leopold deal.

Do a search for "FOLEY" ~ and scroll down to the threads that started after about 5 PM.

You'll find more than you ever imagined.

BTW, this evening's posters seem to be far less educated than the Sunday crowd, so you might want to read all those threds, and FUR SHUR get the Saturday thread. About post 20 a Freeper is asking who kept the salacious Instant Messages secret for 3 years while Foley was at liberty to molest children at will.

Yup perfect I'd say. Frankly I see little risk of a backlash on them in this one too.

Why can't the GOP do this ? As Rush sez we couldn't smear a bagel with cream cheese..............
