There is no reason to force someone to wear revealing clothes in gym class. There are plenty of acceptable options including full-length sweat clothes. Sometimes our war causes us to overreact even at the point of being stupid.

Here is what could happen if she wears long pants, long top and a head covering.

The teacher wants her to run a mile and its over 90 with high humidity. The girl overheats, passes out and dies. The school will be sued.

I don't know if you are old enough, probably not, but when I was in gym class, we wore incredibly ugly blue one'sies with bloomer bottons that snaped up the front. The plus side was everyone looked hideous in the bloomers.

The schools should bring them back. ( -;

Your right.

Many decades ago when I was in gym the lil outfits we wore were embarrassing (I was a tiny lil thing) and I always was freezing.

Taking a public shower was the worst.

And the water was always cold!

Agreed. What we don't see here, since really only one side is presented (surprize) is that may have already been an option. It was at every public school I went to. Pentecostal girls couldn't wear shorts but participated in PE with kulats, or some such, on.

I suspect we are not being told the whole story here, like why it was necessary to change classes.

They should conform to OUR culture. It is, as Daniel Pipes and CAIR have stated, one more implementation of shari'a law in OUR country.

And, by the way, where is the ACLU in all of this? If Christians were wanting some special something, they'd be ranting to high heavens about freedom FROM religion.

Too bad they caved.

didn't an Afgani woman compete in the track and field events at the Olympics? Seems she wore some kind of full pant length gear. Why not let modest people or people who object to exposing their legs wear something appropriate yet athletic. Seems there are some faiths in the US that were/are rather modest. Minonites comes to mind.

I agree. I'm also personally of the mind that a public school should not be dictating what the students can/can't wear in the first place. If it were a private school, that would be another story. Normally, these cases are people trying to wear more revaling clothes - why shouldn't they be allowed NOT to wear them?

Okay. Lets just let every kid wear whatever they want.

If the parents don't like school rules..pay for private school!
