I used to work for two steel "fabricators." (I can't be more specific, as it was a very specialized field, and I could be identified if anyone put their mind to it). The second company (that hired me away) literally produced 2-3 times as much product per per day with roughly 25% of the employees.

There was a reason it was the #1 manufacturer in the country (in that segment), and that was it.
