(B)usinesses at the core of the information economy -- software, semiconductors, telecom and the whole gamut of Web companies -- have lost more than 1.1 million jobs in the past five years. Those business employ fewer Americans than they did in 1998, when the Internet economy kicked into high gear."

Where did the high-tech go? China. Beijing's No. 1 export to the United States in 2005, $50 billion worth, was computers and electronics.

There ya go! I think I'll give up accounting and start my own firm that focuses on "black hole engineering." (1) Anyone want to invest? I'm also looking for scientists, engineers, cute secretaries, and nerds (which I'm one) who like to play role playing games in their free time. "Black hole engineering," that's the wave of the future I tell ya. Nanotech is a buggy whip industry. /sarcasm>

Actually, the Free Traders beat me to it, they already engineered black holes, it's that giat sucking sound you hear that Ross Perot warned us about where all our good jobs and money are going.

(1): "Black Hole Engineering" was one of the careers and skills that your character can obtain in the early 1980's computer role playing game (for the Apple ][ series), "Galactic Adventures"
