Yeah, worst economy since the Great Depression. To belittle the fact that lower and lower-middle class people are having a hard time is foolish and arrogant. The economy is doing well, but certain people in it are not. Ignore them at your peril.

No one is saying there are not struggling people.
But they will do much better in a healthy economy than in a poor one.
So a good economy is better for all.

The economy is doing well, but certain people in it are not. It ALWAYS has been and ALWAYS will be that way. The "poor" are still going to be better off in a strong economy than in a weak one no matter what.

True, in whatever economy you have some that struggle more than others. But when I go to Wal-Mart which caters to the lower and lower middle class, I see a bunch of them with alot of stuff other than food in their shopping carts.
Our lower and lower middle class would be very wealthy in other countries if their lifestyles and their possessions were the only thing to evaluate their wealth by.

Please spare us. I do not need to hear someone from Germany say how well our econmy is doing. Our economy is booming, unlike all of Europes. This is the best damn economy in the world and the best we have seen in the US in many, many years.

I think one of the least noticed hard-hit sectors or brackets is the age cohort from around 50/65. A lot of them want to work and nobody wants 'em.

To belittle the fact that lower and lower-middle class people are having a hard time is foolish and arrogant. That's because in this country there is the "ambition gap." People have different levels of ambition, and thus, their incomes will correspond accordingly. That's the way it is, and the way it shall always be.

There are ALWAYS certain people in any economic time frame that are "not doing well". Celebrating the successes of the masses does not imply neglect towards them. More people then ever before in history are invested in the markets and this is a great boost for them and by extension our nations economic viability.

You are full of crap. Even the lowest earners are feeling the improved economy. Cavuto, Krauthammer, Barnes, Hume, and others have all stated the governement figures on the current state of affairs. You sound just like pelosi... do you look like her?

The economy is doing well, but certain people in it are not. And just when and where was that not true? Sheeze, talk about finding a dark lining behind every silver cloud!
If nothing else, this new high water mark should provide a psychological boost to investors and help raise the level of confidence in the overall economy that is needed to keep the ball rolling. And a stronger, healthier economy will alleviate much of the poverty you're concerned about. Don't forget the old saying, "a rising tide lifts all ships".

No ignoring the lower income people. But there are far more factors involved in the "having a hard time" equation. People want more, and more is considered "basic needs" than years ago.
I know some people who live well with significantly lower than "poverty" income. They just don't focus on what they don't have, and they prioritize their spending on true necessities. And those same-said people are also regular givers to charity and the church.
I also know people with a respectable income who are "having a hard time" because their income just doesn't match their "wants".
And at a time when unemployment is amazingly low, and the economy overall is growing, the number of people who are "having a hard time" because of the economy are dropping.
At some point, people have to realize that what they are doing isn't cutting it, and must move on to something more productive.
And society will always have a certain percentage of people who just cannot or will not support themselves. But where do you think the money comes from to help those people? The economy.

This has always been the case and always will be. I guarantee you, however, that in terms of real standard of living, middle and lower class people are doing better now than they have in history.

What does celebrating success have to do with belittling people? That's a lot like scolding someone for being happy about a good check-up at the doctor's office...how DARE you feel good about your health when other people are sick. I guess we should all stay full of gloom and doom since everything in the world is not perfect.

And then there's the obesity problem with poor people. Freund, they ain't goin' without.

I know about these people and I know, pretty much, what their problem is. People who refuse to conform to what the employer wants in an employee will always find it hard to find jobs. I have two in my family, one absolutely refuses to improve education or even seek a better paying job which might require harder work. The other refuses to change appearance altho the appearance is very off putting to employers. I guess the unemployable and working poor will always be with us.
